At HMC, we love recognizing the employees who go above and beyond to make a difference. Our HMC Heroes series celebrates those team members who make a meaningful impact each week.

Today, we're proud to recognize Khia as an HMC Hero!

"Khia is being recognized for her dedication, positive attitude, and commitment to helping the individuals she supports become more independent. When Khia stepped into the Program Supervisor role, she brought a positive attitude and a willingness to create meaningful change within the home. She identified opportunities to encourage greater independence for all individuals and implemented positive changes that helped build skills, confidence, and a greater sense of ownership in their daily lives. One of the most meaningful examples of Khia’s impact has been her support of an individual whose personal goal was to eventually live independently. Throughout her time at the location, Khia advocated for him, encouraged his growth, and helped ensure he developed and maintained the skills needed to successfully live more independently. As of today, that goal has become a reality. He moved into his own apartment with In-Home supports, which is a significant milestone that reflects his hard work and the consistent support and advocacy he received along the way. Khia has demonstrated what person-centered support truly looks like: believing in individuals’ abilities, encouraging independence, advocating for their goals, and creating opportunities for them to achieve the life they want."

Thank you, Khia, for your positivity, leadership, and commitment to helping individuals achieve their goals and independence. Your dedication has made a meaningful impact on the lives of those you support and the HMC community.

At Harry Meyering Center, we know that acts of dedication, compassion, and teamwork deserve to be recognized. That's why HMC Heroes will continue as an ongoing recognition series, highlighting employees who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of the people we support and their fellow team members.

Today, we're proud to recognize David as an HMC Hero.

"David truly embodies what it means to be a HMC Hero. While he primarily works at South, he is always willing to pick up shifts at other locations to ensure our individuals have the support they need to participate in events, activities, and meaningful experiences. David goes above and beyond to help every individual he serves build confidence and gain greater independence both at home and in the community. His willingness to step in wherever he is needed demonstrates not only his dedication to his job, but also the genuine care he has for the people he supports. David is also an incredible resource when it comes to supporting and training new staff members. He takes the time to teach new employees how to adequately and respectfully serve our individuals, helping them understand the importance of providing person-centered care and encouraging independence. David’s patience, compassion, dependability, and willingness to share his knowledge make him someone his coworkers and the individuals he supports can count on. He is the definition of a dedicated and compassionate staff, and the positive impact he makes each day is truly deserving of recognition as a HMC Hero."

What an incredible week of celebrating the amazing employees who make Harry Meyering Center such a special place. From recognitions and wellness sessions to trivia, raffles, and team activities, this week was filled with appreciation, connection, and fun.

A special thank you to Horizon Homes and Begin Again Acupuncture for partnering with us during Wellness Wednesday and helping us support the well-being of our team.

Most importantly, thank you to our dedicated HMC staff. Your compassion, commitment, and teamwork make a difference in the lives of the people we serve every day. We are grateful for all that you do and proud to celebrate you.

As part of our HMC Heroes campaign during Staff Appreciation Week, we're proud to recognize Tracey for her dedication, advocacy, and unwavering support.

"Tracey has been assisting a woman she serves with a complicated financial situation that is no fault of their own. Tracey has been dedicated to assisting the person she serves by following up with the county caseworker, the Department of Human Services (DHS), and countless other people to get the situation resolved. By calling, emailing, and sending in paperwork, she continues to walk through the situation with a very organized mind. She has shown an enormous amount of dedication and perseverance in helping train this person to find the answers in order to get the situation resolved. Tracey exemplifies an Everyday Hero through her constant presence and support to the people she loves to serve."

Thank you, Tracey, for being a true HMC Hero and for making a meaningful difference in the lives of those you support every day.

Staff Appreciation Week is all about recognizing the incredible people who make Harry Meyering Center such a special place. Every day, our team members go above and beyond through their compassion, dedication, teamwork, and commitment to those we support.

To celebrate, we're launching HMC Heroes, a recognition campaign highlighting employees who exemplify our mission and values and make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Our first HMC Hero is DeeDee!

"DeeDee is one of our staff on our Medical Team. The other day, she was visiting a home that she supports and noticed that one of the gentlemen wasn’t feeling well. Upon assessing the situation, DeeDee acted immediately and took him to the hospital. As they were waiting, he said to DeeDee, “thank you.” And she said, “thank you for what? I was just doing my job.” And he said, “thank you for listening to me. Because of you, I am going to get medicine.” This is just one example of how DeeDee’s observation skills, her ability to know each individual and their needs, and her deep commitment to doing the right thing, even when it is hard shine through as an example of the work we do at HMC. Because of DeeDee’s quick action, this person was able to get the help they needed."

This special week also celebrates National Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Week, giving us the chance to recognize the incredible people who are the heart of HMC. Every day, our team makes a difference through kindness, compassion, and dedication.

From fun theme days and friendly team competitions to wellness activities, prizes, and surprises, we have a week full of celebration planned! Most importantly, it's a time to say THANK YOU to the people who help make HMC such a special place.
