A lot of times people see an organization and assume the work just somehow gets done.
But there is no “organization” sorting baby clothes.
It’s Jean sorting baby clothes and dealing with communications.
It’s Mary Kay sizing them.
It’s Denise and Jessica putting away jeans and dresses.
It’s Gretchen and Danielle filling orders.
It’s Kim being my backup when I need one.
It’s Teri doing orders and hauling garbage home because somebody has to.
It’s our friend who hauls away recycling for us.
It’s volunteers who stop in when they have a few spare hours.
It’s donors who find a way to drop things off during our limited hours.
It’s people who answer messages, carry boxes, sort shoes, hang coats, fold shirts, sweep floors, and do a hundred other little jobs nobody ever sees.
That’s what gets the work done.
Not an organization.
People.
A lot of people giving a little bit of time, effort, energy, and compassion.
By themselves, those contributions might seem small.
Together, they’ve helped clothe thousands of people.
That’s not an organization.
That’s a community.
