The Mni Mural

The Mni Mural Support the Mankato Flood Wall Mural - a 300 foot long mural painted on the flood wall along Riverfront Drive between the Depot and Reconciliation Park.

The Mankato Flood Wall Mural project is a public art initiative of area artists, Twin Rivers Council for the Arts and the City Center Partnership as part of CityArt public art programming. In the fall of 2015 several area artists expressed the desire to create murals on the flood wall, which is owned and maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. Artist Julie Johnson Fahrforth approached the CityA

rt committee about creating a natural river scene between the Depot and Reconciliation Park, as this is a main entry point into the river/trail system. The Army Corps of Engineers has granted partial approval of the project, contingent on the City of Mankato completing necessary paperwork and the mural design and paint application techniques being approved. The artists involved in the project include Julie Johnson Fahrforth, Andrew Judkins, Ann E. Judkins, Michael Cimino and Rhonda Dass. Twin Rivers Council for the Arts and the City Center Partnership are helping raise funds and awareness of the project. The timeline for completion of the mural is based on when final approval is granted from the Army Corps of Engineers and the fundraising goal of $18,000 has been raised. The hope is to complete the mural this summer over a two week period. SUPPORT THIS PROJECT project by making a tax deductible donation today at twinriversarts.org or use the donate button on this page.

Do you know what my secretary just told me? We missed our first full timers anniversary celebration! A little late but happy anniversary to us! Where did the time go! It was one year ago this month of August, that we pulled out as full timing motor-homers

We are so touched by Gordon Awsumb’s thoughtfulness. Gordon, owner of the Mankato Place Mall, not only gave us space to work for months before we started painting the mural, he has now framed our practice acrylic paintings. The wood frames are from the buildings that were torn down when the Mankato Place Mall was built. If you’re in the area, like having lunch at Simply Delicious https://www.facebook.com/Simplydeliciousbycharleys/ :-) or for any other reason – please stop by on the 2nd floor by the Department of Health and check them out.
