Healthiest Manitowoc County HMC provides collaborative leadership to improve the health of Manitowoc County.

A coalition of community leaders was formed in 2004 to identify and address Manitowoc County’s health concerns. Healthiest Manitowoc County (HMC), a community- based initiative, seeks to make positive changes in the health status of Manitowoc County residents. The HMC Steering Committee consists of representatives from many sectors of the community.

Fit in the Park is Back!

Join us this summer for Fit in the Park, a free outdoor fitness series for all fitness levels. Family-friendly classes include yoga in the park, bodyweight strength training and walking along the lakeshore.

We replenished our Public Health Vending Machine today (as we do often!) and wanted to take a moment to share a few quick thank yous. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing community partners who help us keep this resource stocked and available for everyone.

Special thanks to:
• Our local Naloxone Direct Program partners for helping us keep the machine stocked with Narcan.
• Manitowoc County Health Departmentfor providing Tick Kits — especially important this time of year for safely removing ticks and identifying them with the included infographic sheet.
• Froedtert Holy Family Memorial for supplying Personal Care Kits.

We’re also excited to share that this summer the machine will be getting a revamp to include A LOT more basic necessity items!

A huge thank you to every community member who donating equipment or shared the information for our Ready, Set, Play- Equipment Drive!!

Thank you to our drop off sites The Chamber of Manitowoc County, Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA, and Boys & Girls Club of Manitowoc County for hosting community boxes!

We also want to shout out the additional organizations that hosted their own collections to support our event! The Pickleball Connection-Manitowoc, Kay’s Custom Creations LLC, Kaysun Corporation, CASA of East Central Wisconsin, Manitowoc and First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc, First Lutheran Church Manitowoc, Faith Lutheran Church.

And finally, thank you to Froedtert Holy Family Memorial for providing us with all of the donation boxes!

These organizations, along with a few additional individuals who gathered donations, made this drive successful. We can't wait to distribute items back out to the community at our upcoming event!

What a great turnout for the spring drug takeback event! We enjoyed getting to partner with great community agencies to ensure safe medication disposal!

📢 Spring Drug Take Back Results – Thank You, Manitowoc County

We are grateful for the strong community participation in this year’s Spring Drug Take Back efforts, which was held on Saturday, April 25, at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital. A total of 352.8 lbs of medications were collected.

Thanks to the continued commitment of our residents and partnering agencies, we have safely collected and disposed of 1,124.5 pounds of unwanted, unused, and expired medications so far in 2026 — totaling 44 boxes.

Year‑to‑Date Drug Collection Totals
- Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office: 96.8 lbs / 6 boxes
- Manitowoc Police Department: 301 lbs / 10 boxes
- Two Rivers Police Department: 249.5 lbs / 10 boxes
- Kiel Police Department: 97.6 lbs / 3 boxes
- Mishicot Police Department: 26.8 lbs / 1 box

We’re proud to partner with Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc Police Department, Manitowoc County Recycling & Compost, and Healthiest Manitowoc County to help our community safely dispose of unwanted medications and keep them out of the wrong hands.

HMC SOAR is bringing the community together to collect and distribute sports/play equipment for youth and adults and we want your help!

📦 Donate May 1–May 19
We’re collecting new and gently used sports equipment (all sizes welcome) like balls, bats, gloves, cleats, rackets, jump ropes, yard games, sports bags, and more.

All items will be available FREE to the community (while supplies last). Extra items will be distributed back into the community.

Spring Drug Take Back Event
April 25, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 PM at 2300 Western Ave., Manitowoc (Froedtert Holy Family).

We’re proud to partner with Froedtert Holy Family Memorial, Police Department, Manitowoc County Recycling Center & Compost Sites, and Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office to help our community safely dispose of unwanted medications.

✔️ Accepted Items
-Prescription medications
-Over‑the‑counter medications
- Ointments, Sprays, Inhalers, Vials, Herbals, and Pet Medication
-Controlled substances
-Supplements

📦 How to Prepare Your Items
-Place pills in a quart‑size or smaller Ziplock‑style bag. Pills can be mixed together.
-Liquids, cremes, and powders may stay in their original containers with caps
tightened.
-Do NOT bring pill bottles or boxes. Cross out personal info and dispose of or recycle
it at home.

-Bio-hazardous Materials or Household Hazardous Waste
- Batteries
-Needles or sharps
-Mercury devices
-Chemical waste
-Electronic glucose monitors
-Personal care products (shampoo, cosmetics, etc.)
