Congrats Sam!

As Vice President of Finance at Eck Industries, Samantha Reed inspires coworkers to grow their careers and keep learning. She also helps guide the company's community involvement. Eck Industries' logo appears throughout town at nearly every nonprofit because the Eck Family believes in supporting the community that supports them. They also focus on identifying needs in the community and supporting organizations that share their values.

Born and raised in Manitowoc, she co-founded Lean On Me Lakeshore in 2019 after her daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and the family faced overwhelming medical bills. Recognizing the gap in resources for middle-class families with high-deductible plans, the nonprofit has helped over 60 families with children suffering from medical conditions, covering auxiliary expenses during already difficult times. She currently serves as the organization’s Treasurer.

Previously, she served as Treasurer for the local girls' basketball organization for two years, coached Lego League and ponytail softball, and was a member of the Progress Lakeshore Finance Committee. She volunteers with her children's youth sports organizations and regularly donates and participates in local fundraisers.

Looking ahead, she aims to continue leading at Eck Industries while growing Lean On Me Lakeshore from a small nonprofit into one that expands into other areas of the community that are in need of assistance. She hopes to serve on more nonprofit boards, sharing knowledge and resources for positive causes.

Trunk or Treat 2025 at the library! It was a little wet and a little windy but we gave out over 500 treat bags and saw so many adorable costumes! It is always such a fun event! Thank you Manitowoc Public Library for inviting us back year after year!

𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭
Come spooky. Come silly. Just come! Families will love our safe, fun and FREE trick-or-treating event which showcases local businesses and organizations. Dress in costume and share in the festivities the week before Halloween. Event will be held in the Briess Parking Lot across from the library.
*Note: In case of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled.

𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭
While having fun Trunk or Treating, head over to the Teen Hangout on MPL's first floor between 5:30 and 6:45 pm on October 21nd to sign up for the 2025 Spooktacular Costume Contest.
We've got three categories for you to register in:
- Youth: for kids aged 0-12
- Teen/Adult: for those 13 and up
- Group: for family or themed costumes with 3 or more people
The MPL team will review the photos and choose 5 finalists from each category. We'll be looking for costumes that show off creativity, originality, authenticity, and great presentation.
Finalists will be posted on MPL's Facebook on Thursday, October 24th. A prize will be awarded to the photo with the most likes in each category!
Ghosts and goblins of all ages are welcome! Family-friendly costumes are appreciated. Winners will be announced Tuesday, October 28th.
