Jays Development Center Where fun meets growth 🙌 Evidence-based programming to help us guide today’s youth toward tomorrow’s success 💪 | Follow to watch futures unfold ✨

The mission of Jays Legacy Youth Development Center is to provide respectful support to persons with disabilities so they may attain fulfilling lives in the community. We firmly believe that all individuals, whatever their level, have the right to participate in community life. Through the use of community resources, technologies and caring guidance, individuals are able to have experiences with i

ncreased personal growth, happiness and quality of life. Our after school program offers unique and structured services. After a thorough assessment is completed, we design a program based on the youths needs. We use evidence-based programming to work on areas in need. Some services that would be incorporated into the program includes:
Community integration
Fitness and health/nutrition
Personal responsibility
Social/emotional
Recreation
Daily living skills
Family support
Vocational support

Happy Halloween from JDC to you! 🎃

Halloween is a night full of fun, imagination, and community but it can also bring unique challenges for some of our youth. For children with autism or other special needs, the loud noises, bright lights, costumes, and unexpected changes in routine can feel overwhelming.

This Halloween, let’s all practice patience, empathy, and understanding. If a child doesn’t say “trick or treat” doesn’t wear a costume, or needs extra space, that’s okay! Every child deserves to enjoy the night in a way that feels safe and comfortable for them. 💛

From all of us at Jay’s Development Center — stay safe, be kind, and have a Happy Halloween! 🎃🧡👻

As we say goodbye to summer and hello to autumn, we’re filled with gratitude for the adventures, growth, and community experiences this season gave us.

Each moment offered more than just fun memories—they became tools we can carry into the school year:
🎣 Fishing taught us to be patient, calm, and focused.
🍓 Strawberry picking taught us the value of teamwork and enjoying the rewards of our hard work.
🌻 Sunflower fields showed us growth and beauty in every season.
🍲 Cooking and sharing meals strengthened connection and care.
🍦 Ice cream breaks reminded us to celebrate little joys.
🐾 Humane Society visits taught us empathy and responsibility.
🎨 Library window painting encouraged creativity and community pride.
🧗 Rock climbing pushed us to be brave, persistent, and problem-solve.
🏖 Sand sculptures showed us how teamwork builds something beautiful.
🌳 Trail walks reminded us of mindfulness, reflection, and steps forward.

As the seasons change, so do we—and with these lessons in our toolbox, we’re ready to step into the school year with resilience, hope, and a whole lot of heart. 💛🍂

Before the final log off, and end of the day I wanted to provide a quick thank you to all the kiddos, parents, staff and everyone else I've gotten to work side by side with over the last few years. It has been an absolute honor and privilege to create fun adventures, plan spirt weeks, and teach and help kids along the way. This job has provided me a new love for what I do, and I cannot watch to see all the amazing things all of these kids do in the upcoming years.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! ❤️
