The Lincoln Ships Girls Swim Team had another successful night in the pool, continuing to make their presence felt in a conference filled with large co-op teams and experienced swimmers.
Despite their young roster and smaller numbers, the Ships once again showed the conference that there is plenty of fight in this team.
Freshman Lilica McGovert led the way in the breaststroke relay, posting a 1:20.30 in the 100-yard breaststroke. That time ranks her as the 8th-fastest breaststroker in Lincoln history.
Across the six events entered, the Ships recorded four 4th-place finishes and a 5th-place finish, narrowly missing the podium in several races.
Coming up just short has only made these girls hungrier. Now, they’re ready for another opportunity when the conference dual-meet season begins and they get the chance to go head-to-head with the competition.
The Ships may be young and small in numbers—but they are far from short on fight.
