Do you believe all kids are capable of success, no exceptions?
From Trauma to Resilience: Kids at Hope – No Exceptions!
Why do some children do well in life while others struggle? Why do some children who face many of life’s greatest adversities overcome great risks and experience success?
Manitowoc County has been working with Rick Miller from Kids at Hope on an innovative concept which states and demonstrates that all children are capable of success, NO EXCEPTIONS! The Kid’s at Hope vision is that every child is afforded the belief, guidance and encouragement that creates a sense of hope and optimism, supported by a course of action needed to experience success.
Kids at Hope in conjunction with Arizona State University offers an intensive Kids at Hope Youth Development Master’s Institute. The Institute attracts world leaders in the fields of child and youth development and education. 19 Manitowoc community members have graduated from the Master’s Institute!
Manitowoc will be replicating the Master’s Institute experience locally in March, 2020. This event will feature national speakers, as well as strategies for implementing the Kids at Hope philosophy. National speakers will include Rick Miller speaking about the Soul, Science and Culture of hope. Valerie Calderon, PH.D., a consultant and researcher with the Gallup Organization. She will share tactics for organization improvement through engagement measurement and strategic action planning. Charlie Applestein, MSW, an expert in strength-based approaches to working with children and youth experiencing serous emotional and behavioral issues. He will share his strategies for working with this population. Robert Maurer, PH.D., the Director of Behavioral Sciences for the Family Practice Residency Program at UCLA Medical Center and a faculty member with the UCLA School of Medicine. He will share his unique approach to personal happiness and success.
