Thank you, Manitou and west side folks, for coming out and supporting our sale. We did well and will have money for grants this coming year. We hope your new plant babies thrive and prosper. And we couldn't have asked for nicer weather.

Last post before tomorrow's plant sale. We want to thank the community for your support year after year. We will have a membership table at the sale if you think you might want to join us on our plant-loving journey. For the next 4 months we will be meeting at private homes to see each other's gardens, and only members will get emails for these meetings. June is when our calendar year begins, and membership is just $20 for the year or $25 for a couple. Our summer meetings are relaxing, informative, and inspiring. We meet the second Thursday at 6 PM. Sign up to be a member while at the plant sale. Thanks also to Mary who brought us 3 boxes of donated plants yesterday: a flat of healthy perennial garlic chives, and many pots of beautiful meadow sage, a deer resistant, drought-tolerant perennial. We hope to see you tomorrow, Manitou, 9-12, at the Manitou pool parking lot. Share our post. Bring a friend.

Our plant sale is not like other plant sales. We grow about 80% of the plants we sell, and that leads to lots of variety at the sale. Here are pictures sent by members of some of the plants they are bringing to the sale. The sale is this coming Sunday, May 24th, 9-12, at the Manitou pool parking lot. We take cash, check, or Venmo. This is our only fundraiser, and we are grateful for the community support. We hope to see you there.

Want some low maintenance perennials for your garden? Here are just a few that we will have at our annual plant sale, May 24th, 9-12, at the Manitou Pool parking lot. These perennials have been divided from plants in our own gardens - so they are perfectly acclimated to our climate and altitude. Spread the word. Plant sale is just 4 days away!

One of our favorite food-producing plants will be featured at our plant sale: the serviceberry. The small, blueberry-like fruit can be used like blueberries in recipes. The shrub has pretty white spring blossoms and bright orange fall foliage. The bushes tend to sucker and get wider making a nice hedge or wind break. The serviceberries we are selling are good edible cultivars, either Regent or Smokey. See you Sunday at our plant sale. 9-12 at the Manitou pool parking lot. Spread the word!

And, of course, we will have flowers at our plant sale! Annuals include zinnias, hypoestes, snapdragon, dusty miller, coleus, verbena, celosia, red salvia, and petunias. Perennials are blanket flower, meadow sage, monarda, balloon flower, red hot poker, delphinium, lupine, basket of gold, poppies, columbine, coneflower, foxglove, and candy tuft. The sale is this coming Sunday, May 24th, 9-12 at the Manitou pool parking lot. Spread the word! This is our only fund raiser and money you spend goes back into the community in the form of grants for sustainability, resilience, and beautification. We appreciate your support, Manitou!

We will have lots of TOMATOES at the plant sale. This year we are focusing mostly on different types of cherry tomatoes. They are prolific and ripen earlier than the big slicers. Some of the varieties will be Gardener's Delight, a 1" red cherry: Clackamas blue, a larger deep purple tomato; and Barry's Crazy Cherry, small yellow lemon drop sized tomatoes in prolific clusters. In addition we will have Thai pink egg, Grandeur, Rutgers, Cherokee purple, Black Krim, San Marzano, and Rio Grande. Our tomatoes are home-grown, so they are acclimated to our altitude. Our plant sale is Sunday, 9-12, at the Manitou pool parking lot. Spread the word!!

Just 10 days until our annual plant sale. We grow most of our plants and then use the money to give grants back to the community. Supporting our sale is supporting our community! We will have year old Meyer lemon trees at the sale. They need to stay in a pot and come indoors in the winter, but in a few years they should give you lemons! See you May 24th, 9-12, at the Manitou Pool parking lot.

Chicago hardy figs are hardy to -20 degrees. They die back in the winter and regrow in the spring. Two years ago I had about 50 figs on my tree, but we had a freeze before they ripened. I still have trees outside in the hopes of getting figs one day, but I am also keeping one in a pot to make sure I get figs one day. We will have at least 7 Chicago hardy figs at the plant sale: May 24th, 9-12, at the Manitou pool parking lot.
