We are pleased to share that a section of the Manistique city trail system has been reopened!

We would like to thank Warshawsky Brothers Iron for his cooperation with the SCMTA Volunteer team for reopening the trail from the old train bridge to the corner of Elm Street/New Elm Street. We also greatly appreciate them for the recent addition of allowing access from the corner of Elm Street and New Elm Street all the way to Pine Street for ORVs now, as well as the previously allowed Snowmobiles.

Please take a moment to review our map to view our entire 906 Trail system. As a reminder the speed limit in city limits remains at 10mph and do not travel on any of the roads marked in red on our map.
Roads Closed to ORVs are as Follows US2, M94 - (N. 5th St/Deer St/River St/E Elk St/Maple St) River St. & South Cedar St. Map can be found at scmtaup.org

This is an important step forward for trail access within the City of Manistique. This route will hopefully allow us to continue working toward opening additional city trail sections that are currently snowmobile-only to ORV use as well, creating safer and more practical travel through the city for riders. This in turn will allow for more recreational opportunities in the future to help Manistique become a top ORV & Snowmobile Destination.

We look forward to building a continued partnership with Warshawsky Brothers Iron and appreciate the opportunity to move forward in a positive direction.

Thank you to everyone for your patience, support, and cooperation. Our SCMTA Volunteers will be performing maintenance and signing activities in the following weeks.

Your Trail Report from SCMTA Volunteers!

Our trails are currently in good shape, and it looks like we're going to get some rain today and tomorrow. The added moisture should help keep dust levels down and make for even better riding conditions heading into the weekend.

We would also like to give a big thank you to our dedicated volunteers. Yesterday, a volunteer was able to drag the Haywire Trail from Jack Pine to Manistique, helping to smooth out the trail and improve riding conditions for everyone. Their hard work and commitment are what help keep our trail system in great shape throughout the season.

As always, conditions can change, so ride responsibly and be mindful of other trail users. If you're heading out this weekend, get out there, enjoy the trails, and don't forget to thank the volunteers who help make it all possible.

If you come across a tree down, washout, or any other trail issue, please report it to us here on Facebook or through the trail issue form on our website at scmtaup.org/trail-reports so we can get a crew out to address it. SCMTA’s trail reports page includes a trail issue form for riders to submit problems with location details and photos.

During this past weekend's Trail Cleanup Ride, one of our volunteer groups came across several downed trees blocking sections of the trail. Thanks to their hard work and quick action, the trees were safely cleared, helping keep the trail system open and enjoyable for everyone.

These are the kinds of things that happen behind the scenes to keep our trails in great shape. Whether it's picking up trash, clearing fallen trees, or reporting trail issues, our volunteers are always willing to step up and lend a hand.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the cleanup ride and helped make a difference. It takes a lot of work to maintain our trail system, and we're fortunate to have such dedicated members who care about the trails and the riding community.

If you'd like to be part of future cleanup rides and volunteer events, consider becoming a member and helping us keep our trails safe, clean, and ready for adventure.

What a great day on the trails!

Our Haywire Trail Cleanup was a huge success, with 14 dedicated volunteers coming out to lend a hand to clean 35miles of our ORV and snowmobile trail. Together, we filled an entire trailer with trash, including 3 tires and a mattress, helping keep our trail system clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

After all the hard work was done, the group headed over to Jack Pine Lodge for some well-earned cold drinks, great food, and even better company. We couldn't have asked for better weather, and it was fantastic to spend the day riding, working together, and enjoying time with fellow members.

A big thank you goes out to everyone who volunteered their time and effort. Events like this show what makes our club such a great community. The trails don't stay beautiful on their own, and we're proud to have members who are willing to step up and make a difference.

We're hoping to host more events like this throughout the season, so if you're not already a member, now is the perfect time to join. Not only are you supporting the trails, but you'll also have the opportunity to take part in fun events, group rides, volunteer projects, and meet some great people along the way.

Your Weekly Trail Report from SCMTA Volunteers!

Sorry for the delay in this week's trail report. We've been busy getting everything ready for today's Trail Cleanup Ride, and we're excited to see our volunteers out helping keep our trail system looking its best.

The good news is that it looks like we're in for some great riding weather this week. Conditions are continuing to improve, and it's shaping up to be a perfect time to get out and enjoy the trails.

If you're planning to ride today, please be aware that SCMTA volunteers will be working along the Haywire Trail throughout the day. We ask that all riders use extra caution, slow down when approaching work areas, and give our volunteers plenty of room as they work to keep the trails safe and enjoyable for everyone.

A huge thank you to everyone donating their time today. The work our volunteers do makes a real difference and helps keep our trail system something we can all be proud of.

If you come across a tree down, washout, or any other trail issue, please report it to us here on Facebook or through the trail issue form on our website at scmtaup.org/trail-reports so we can get a crew out to address it. 05/28/2026

We regret to inform riders that a section of the Manistique city trail system must be closed until further notice due to an ongoing property access dispute involving Warshawsky Brothers Iron.

This closure is not the result of rider behavior, trail misuse, or any action by the riding community. Unfortunately, the refusal of the property owner to work cooperatively with the City or the trail club has created a disruption that directly impacts local recreation, trail access, tourism, and the businesses throughout our city that benefit from ORV/Snowmobile traffic.

Over the years, the trail club has met with the property owner multiple times in an effort to resolve this issue and maintain access through this area. Despite those efforts, cooperation has stopped multiple times through no fault of the club. At this point, we have been left with no other choice but to begin seeking alternate routes around the affected property.

The affected area is within Manistique city limits, beginning just north of the east side of Siphon Bridge, the bridge east of the water tower, and continuing to the corner of Pine Street and N Cedar Street. Please view the attached map for the affected area.

At this time, there is no advisable reroute in place. We understand how frustrating this is for riders, visitors, local businesses, and everyone who supports outdoor recreation in our community. Our club is actively working with the City and Public Safety, local businesses, and surrounding landowners to establish a proper, safe, and practical reroute as quickly as possible.

We want to be clear: this closure is not the fault of the riders. The impact is being felt by the entire community, and we are disappointed that the owner’s refusal to work toward a reasonable solution is now affecting public recreation, tourism, and local commerce.

Please respect the closure and do not attempt to ride through the affected area. Doing so could make the situation worse and jeopardize future access.

We will continue to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding as we work toward a solution.

Big thanks to our shop coordinators and all of the volunteers who put in the time helping with maintenance on our tractor. After a lot of hard work in the shop, it’s serviced, checked over, and ready to get out on the trails for the season ahead.

Keeping our equipment in top shape takes a team effort, and we’re lucky to have members who are always willing to step up and lend a hand. From routine maintenance to the little fixes that keep everything running smoothly, all of that work helps SCMTA continue maintaining and improving the trails we all enjoy.

We appreciate everyone who spent time in the shop helping get things ready. Now it’s time to put that hard work to use out on the trails!
