Lakeshore Children's Advocacy Center

Lakeshore Children's Advocacy Center The Lakeshore Children's Advocacy Center aspires to be a leader in efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect.

We provide a coordinated response to abuse that puts the child first. Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) are community based, child-focused and child-friendly facilities where representatives from many disciplines meet to discuss and make decisions about investigation, treatment and prosecution of child abuse cases. CAC’s provide child-friendly, legally sound forensic interviewing services. CAC’s

also help make sure your child gets a necessary medical check-up. CAC’s can also help you find the best counselors for you and your child.

What It Really Means to Respect Your Child

Respecting your child doesn’t mean letting them run the house.

It means recognizing they are a whole person with thoughts, feelings, and preferences.

Respect looks like listening without interrupting, even when you don’t agree.

It sounds like using a calm tone instead of yelling when emotions are high.

It means explaining boundaries rather than demanding blind obedience.

Respect shows up when you apologize after you’ve made a mistake.

It looks like honoring their “no” in appropriate situations, especially around their body and space.

It means giving them time to process instead of rushing compliance.

When children feel respected, they are more likely to show respect in return.

They learn how healthy relationships function by experiencing them firsthand.

Respect builds trust, safety, and cooperation over time.

When we treat children with dignity, we teach them they are worthy of it.

Many families share photos online to stay connected and celebrate everyday moments. But in today’s digital environment, even those well‑intentioned posts can carry risks that aren’t always visible at first glance.

In a new op-ed published in The Washington Times, “Dangers of posting pictures of your child online,” NCA CEO Teresa Huizar explores the growing risks associated with sharing kids' images online. The digital landscape has changed significantly, making it harder to control where images go or how they may be used. Emerging technologies, including AI, are creating new ways for images to be manipulated or misused.

Read on to learn more about why it’s worth pausing before we post, and how we can better protect kids online.

Child predators are using artificial intelligence platforms to digitally “undress” real children and place them in sexually graphic images and videos.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the incredible sponsors, donors, and volunteers who made this year's “Badger Experience” fundraiser a tremendous success!

Because of the generosity and support of sponsors and attendees, Friends of Ludington Police raised critical funds that will help the Lakeshore Children's Advocacy Center continue providing hope, healing, and justice for children and families in our community who have experienced abuse.

Special thanks to event sponsors Safety Decals, Safe Harbor Credit Union, Lake House, Hearthstone Bistro Catering, and S.S. Badger: Lake Michigan Carferry. We are deeply grateful for the commitment to creating a safer, stronger community where every child can thrive.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for standing with us in support of children and families when they need it most.
