The Rec at Sands Park

The Rec at Sands Park Student Recreation Area, After School Hangout and Skate Park. Community Center offering Concessions and Restrooms as well as indoor and outdoor activities.

Free to use, Donations Accepted. We look forward to seeing you at The Rec Welcome to The Rec at Sands Park! Our new name will hopefully send a more inviting message to members of our community that we are more than a "Teen Center". We Welcome anyone in our area to come play, learn or hangout inside in a safe and monitored environment. The Rec is located behind Kennedy Elementary in Sands Park at t

he corner of Maple street and 8th street. On site we have access to outdoor activities like the Playground, Basketball Court, Softball Field and of course our Skate Park. We have sports equipment free to use as well as video games, ping pong, foosball and a pool table inside to keep everyone occupied. During the winter the City of Manistee Parks Department maintains our Ice Skating Rink and Ice Skates are free to use for all ages! The hills are also great for sledding! Concessions are available for the perfect after-school snack and bathrooms are available for a break between playing. If you have any questions do not hesitate to send us a message! Join us as we celebrate the completion of improvements and upgrades at The Rec at Sands Park with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony!

This project was the result of the Manistee Area Leadership Program Cohort's community impact initiative, bringing together local leaders to invest in a space that serves residents and visitors alike. Their hard work, collaboration, and commitment to strengthening our community have helped create lasting improvements that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Come help us recognize this accomplishment, celebrate the power of community leadership, and see the enhancements for yourself!
