A little over 2 years ago, the PCWA was proud to bring you the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg reenactment. We could never have done what we did without the tireless efforts of everyone involved. Far too many to mention you all here, but you know who you are… We were so blessed to work closely with Ken and Linda, Craig and Kevin… without everything they did for us, it NEVER would’ve happened. I consider them family. That being said, I stopped in to see Ken last week and discussed our intentions to possibly host the 165th at Ken’s property. Although they were pleased with how we took care of the property and how fast the land came back after all the rain, we decided that we would not host another event at their farm. It is an active farm and it’s very difficult for them to predict when they will be able to have the fields cleared for us.

Due to this turn of events, I have decided not to pursue another event at this time. I am going to shift my focus into my new career and move on from the PCWA. It has been my honor to work closely with so many fine people… I will always be eternally grateful. Thank you to everyone that has supported me and for all of the encouragement that I’ve received from so many of you over the years. I wish you all the best and I truly hope to see quality events happening well into the future. God speed!

Dustin

I have a TON of civil war stuff for sale. The only thing I do not have is fi****ms. If there is something that you need or want… let me know. I don’t have the highest quality campaigner quality stuff… if there’s something you need, let me know and I can send pics. Several A frame tents… many uniforms… mostly everything I have is federal

Excited to announce that Mekaela Carter and Jessica Johnson have come aboard to coordinate civilian activities for the 165th BOG! We have a long way to go and a lot of work to do, but this is a great step forward! Welcome to the team ladies!

As we start ramping up the planning phase of the 165th BOG reenactment, we will be looking for individuals willing to volunteer their time and expertise to help to bring this event to life.

When considering becoming a volunteer, please note that we will need people that can be on the site multiple times throughout the planning/set up phase… it may require a huge sacrifice of your time and effort.

We have learned a lot from the 160th and it is our intention to take those lessons and build from those. We need people are willing to commit and tough it out with us! It’s not an easy thing we are doing.

If you feel that you are willing to be a part of this endeavor and can meet the needs of the organization, please reach out to me (Dustin). Once we have a reliable staff, we will open a group chat involving all new leaders and staff.

We are in the early stages of planning and a lot has to fall into place. But we need to put in the work to get us to that next step… if you feel that this is you, please reach out!

***This post is just for fun***

Sitting out here on the farm around the fire, we have been discussing some potential scenarios for the 165th Gettysburg event. We’ve talked about Brinkerhoff Ridge, where Confederate infantry fought it out with federal Cav. We discussed the potential for a Spangler Spring scenario. Repulse of the 27th Indiana and 2nd Mass. Bliss farm. Wheatfield again but a bit better next time out… and a portion of Picketts charge… specifically the 11th Miss and 26th NC… we would love to do a Culps hill but the terrain just isn’t here for it. What do you all think? The 160th was named Acts of valor… what should we name this event?

Have some fun with it. We realize this is putting the cart before the horse, but it does make for some good fire side discussion. Share your thoughts and ideas and we will discuss them. If we like it and agree, it could be adapted for the event with you receiving full credit! Have some fun y’all!

Attn all reenactors! Conversations have begun on the prospect of hosting the 165th BOG. This post has two purposes… 1st, to gauge interest. 2nd, if interested, what do you feel would be a fair registration fee for the event? This event will be different in terms of the handling of finances, the vendors that we use and most definitely WILL NOT use this time… it is our intention to PRE pay for the use of the land this time… we have a tentative fundraising goal of 100k. Any funds not used for the event will go to help save endangered battlefields. We will cross that bridge when we get to it. We are FAR from discussing scenarios… but doing the Wheatfield again is on the table… Bliss farm… and Iverson’s pits are being discussed. But that’s down the road! We have 3 years to get this done… and we CAN do this with your help! Sound off! Share this with your buddies… let’s make the 165th happen… and make it bigger than the 160th!

It has become time for me to unload a majority of my civil war gear, tents and such. I have so much it would be insane to list it all here. I have 3 A frame tents, poles and stakes for starters. Belts, Cav uniforms, boots, accoutrements, headgear and lots more. If you need something, let me know. Make me an offer, if it’s fair, I’ll accept it. Please don’t low ball me. You’d be wasting both of our time. Also selling an A3O3 r i f L e. Pm me if interested. Thanks!

What follows is not a post about our upcoming 160th Battle of Gettysburg event!

This is a soft announcement of our intentions for our next preservation project!

This project does NOT involve the civil war, but a VERY important preservation project involving the location of the Revolutionary war POW site named, Camp Security! Recently an architectural team headed by John Crawmer, located the actual site of Camp Security. Camp Security is the last remaining, undeveloped Rev War POW camp in the country! The land is owned by Springettsbury township.

The PCWA in cooperation with S. Chris Anders and the 8th Virginia will begin taking the initial steps to conduct a fundraising living history recreation of Camp Security at the actual site.

Stay tuned as we will post updates and announcements as they become available. We are very excited to get involved with this very important preservation project. More to come!

Take a moment to watch this short video on the history of Camp Security!
