What do you get up to on a chilly New York Saturday?

Over the weekend, the New York City Chapter traded the chill for culture with a private guided tour of the American Wing at . 🖼️

Surrounded by iconic works and masterful craftsmanship, we explored the stories, symbolism, and artistic legacy of the Revolutionary era.

True to our chapter’s love of the arts, the tour brought together members and prospective members alike for an engaging, thoughtful, and genuinely fun experience!

An afternoon immersed in American art and history that made history feel vivid, personal, and shared.

It’s time to register! The third annual Saunter for Citizenship is Nov. 8.

This year the route will meet in midtown and stroll down the East River, stopping at historic sites along the way.

This fundraiser supports CUNY’s Citizenship Now! legal services program (), aiding aspiring citizens with their citizenship application fees. Did you know that a citizenship application fee is $760?

On Saturday, October 11, our chapter Daughters joined with members of the Knickerbocker chapters and the CAR to document the pre Civil War graves at First Calvary Cemetery in Queens for the DAR Day of Service.

Despite persistent misting rain, we learned about the history of the land and the Alsop family, who once farmed the land. While our efforts were short lived due to weather, our members now have the Find-a-Grave app downloaded and ready to help satisfy photo requests.

The New York State Conference (.nsdar) isn’t just about awards. It’s also about connecting with other Daughters.

There were workshops to learn about revolutionary cocktails and DAR details.

There was crafting centerpieces for the luncheon we hosted. There was winning centerpieces for being the newest Daughter at the table. There was dancing and DJing.

And for the curious, here’s a close up of our Traveling Membership Award and its accompanying diamond insignia (on DAR tartan, no less!).

Over the last weekend in September, the New York City Chapter Daughters joined 115 other chapters from across New York for the state conference (.nsdar) in Tarrytown, NY.

By being one of the hostess chapters, we led trivia during the Thursday night welcome meal. Our Daughters also were pages, led a Revolutionary cocktail workshop, provided state committee notes, and DJed the Saturday night reception.

The Saturday Empire State Awards Luncheon was where the chapter took home honors: Jacey Powers () was honored as the 2025 Outstanding Chapter Regent; the state’s highest honor, the Traveling Membership Award, came home to NYC; and Annika Blake-Howard () took second place for her shortbread cookies. The chapter’s CMR (Chapter Master Report) also earned highest number of points.
