We believe that music gives our children a positive way to express themselves and an outlet for creativity. Years of research have shown that students involved in musi
c also excel in the classroom. To support our efforts, we rely on generous donations from families, community members, and local businesses. What are some ways that MFOM supported music education and performance in 2014?
• Sponsored and staged the Tiger Beat Talent Show. Every spring our high school students put on a show displaying their creative talents. There are high school emcees who keep us laughing between the acts. Join us for this year’s night of fun on April 24 at 7:00.
• Funded a scholarship for a graduating senior who is pursuing music beyond high school.
• Helped the Manhattan PTO bring the Missoula Children’s Theater to the elementary students.
• Provided a scholarship for a high school music student to attend a summer music camp.
• Paid for young percussionists to attend a workshop.
• Purchased choir folders for choir members to use at music festivals.
• Provided funds for students to attend All State Orchestra. What are the goals that MFOM has for 2015?
• Provide additional scholarships for students in need to take music lessons or to attend summer music camps.
• Provide funds for our band and choral students to attend music events at other locations. Attending and performing at distant music events provides students with more opportunities for learning as well as exposing them to college instructors who are looking for musical talent.
• Continue to fund our past events and to provide support for band and performance equipment. How can I help support music in our schools and community?
• Volunteer to help at music events.
• Attend MFOM meetings and share your ideas.
• Attend Kitten Beat (K-8 Talent Show) on February 23 at 7:00 and Tiger Beat (High School Talent Show) on April 24 at 7:00. Tiger Beat has a small admission price to help raise money for MFOM.
