One of the things we love to do as American Legion Auxiliary members is to be able to support our active duty soldiers on a deployment ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸. Thankfully, we were informed by the Francis family during our annual Bingo fundraiser back in October that their son, Barry, was deployed. In response, we were able to provide him with a care package that contained all things Montana. Although Lt. Barry Francis is currently stationed in Norfolk, VA, his family still resides in Manhattan. Barry graduated MHS in 2014. He was part of the longest deployment ever for a destroyer (DDG 57 - the Mitscher). Please welcome home our local hero Lt. Barry Francis. We are forever grateful for his service & for all the love & support his family provides for him, especially during this tough deployment.

Every April the American Legion Auxiliary in Manhattan reaches out to our local schools to support our annual Poppy Poster Contest 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙. Students from Grades 2 to 12 can showcase their artistic talents on an 11”x14” poster board using the poppy 🌺. We would like to thank the teachers who encouraged their students to participate. We greatly appreciate your support!

For their efforts, the Auxiliary will be presenting a cash award 💰to each winner for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place 🥇🥈🥉. The 1st place winners from each class will be submitted to the state competition & then hopefully to the national competition.

This year we are thrilled to announce the following winners for this year’s Poppy Poster Contest 🎉🙌🎊👏🥳. Congrats to all the winners!!! Please know we had about 125 submissions this year & there were so many amazing posters to choose from!

Just a friendly reminder that Friday is National Poppy Day 🌺. The American Legion Auxiliary will be at the intersection of Broadway & Main from 7am-11am collecting Poppy donations. We look forward to seeing you at one of our biggest fundraisers of the year that allows us to continue supporting our Montana Veterans ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

Today we honor the Four Chaplains—four men of different faiths who showed extraordinary courage, unity, and selfless love in the face of unimaginable fear.

On February 3, 1943, aboard the USS Dorchester, Chaplains George Fox, Alexander Goode, John Washington, and Clark Poling gave up their life jackets and comforted others as the ship sank, linked arm in arm in prayer as the waters rose.

Their legacy isn’t just about sacrifice—it’s about service beyond differences, choosing compassion over fear, and putting others first when it matters most.

Today, we remember them.
Today, we strive to live like them. 🇺🇸
