Reflections of Native Voices Festival:
Feast of Ghosts
A line up of three genre-bending Indigenous performances.
From questioning land acknowledgements and what makes a spirit versus a shadow to an all Native Cabaret featuring some of your favorite downtown musical numbers.
With collaboration from our local Indigenous organizers this mini festival is intended to be a fundraiser for disaster relief in Alaska as well as a call to action for mutual aid & pantry items at each performance.
We want to use our platform to organize and uplift our community creatively & literally.
We hope you can join us for these incredible performances and don’t forget your mutual aid items for collection.
We will see you all at the Feast of Ghosts…

Hoshontika Na Ponaklo (Shadow Questions)
are assertive questions posed by Native Shadows to human witnesses. These ancestral Native Shadow-shifters are perpetually present, regardless of form, energy, or illumination. The demeanor of the witness determines whether the Shadows offer assistance, haunts, or devours the witness.

Hoshontika Na Ponaklo (ho-shown-teh-kaw nah paw-nok-low)
was conceived, written, choreographed, and directed by Nicholson Billey (Chahta and Mvskoke). The musical composition for Hoshontika Na Ponaklo was conceived, directed, and produced by Nicholson Billey, with Stiles serving as the Music Generator, and Jayden Avery-Love providing vocals. Bury My Heart on Broadway is an all-Native cast cabaret featuring music from historic musicals workshopped and conceived at New York Theatre Workshop and La MaMa Experimental Theatre, on downtown New York City’s iconic East 4th Street. Audiences can expect musical numbers from celebrated shows such as Hadestown, Godspell, Rent, Once, and Hair, along with selections from Savage the Musical—a new Native musical written by Nicolette Blount, based on the true life of her ancestor, Wanda Savage.
We are proud to showcase some of New York City’s freshest Indigenous musical theatre artists, including actors, composers, directors, and lyricists currently working in the industry. This cabaret coincides with the story of Feast of Ghosts. Come listen to what the ancestral ghosts of East 4th Street have to say…

The Reflections of Native Voices Festival: Feast of Ghosts is a powerful celebration of Indigenous storytelling, blending ancestral memory with contemporary performance. This year’s lineup features Bury My Heart on Broadway, a spectral all–Native cabaret reimagining historic musicals workshopped at La MaMa and NYTW; Wailing, an outdoor piece and land acknowledgment paired with films as part of FABnyc’s Open Arts LES series; and Hoshontika Na Ponaklo—Shadow Questions?, an intimate meditation on identity and memory. More than a showcase, the festival is a ritual of reclamation—an evolving canvas where tradition meets innovation. It all culminates in a vibrant community feast. Join us!

President Donald Trump says he’s changing the official name of Alaska’s — and North America’s — tallest peak from Denali back to Mount McKinley. It’s the latest chapter in a long struggle over what the mountain should be called.

Before taking office this week, President Donald Trump promised swift and decisive actions to get his agenda moving. In addition to major reforms for immigration and pardons for participants in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the Capitol, he also signaled policy directions that affect Native Americans. Amo...
