✨ Founder Spotlight: Meet Sasha Lipton ✨
What started with one compassionate heart and a car ride through her neighborhood has grown into a nationwide movement — and it all began with our incredible founder, Sasha Lipton.
From a young age, Sasha was no stranger to giving back. She spent her weekends delivering food with her dad to those in need and volunteering at soup kitchens. Later, her summers were dedicated to serving children with life-threatening illnesses at Camp Sunshine — planting the seeds of empathy and action that would shape her future.
But it was during a simple drive one summer day that Sasha noticed something that would change everything: perfectly good plastic toys, left at the curb for trash pickup. She couldn’t shake the thought: why were these toys, still full of life, being thrown away when so many children went without?
That question led to a powerful answer: Second Chance Toys.
In 2006, Sasha began collecting gently used plastic toys and donating them to local organizations serving children in need. What started as a one-person effort quickly gained momentum, resonating with families who also wanted to give back in a meaningful (and sustainable!) way.
Thanks to Sasha’s vision, Second Chance Toys has now kept hundreds of thousands of toys out of landfills — and more importantly, put them into the hands of children who need them most.
💚 To our donor and parent community: your support is what keeps this mission alive. Every toy donated, every dollar given, and every story shared helps us carry this vision forward: giving children the joy of play, and giving toys the second chance they deserve.
