Annabelle, Coffey County, is our State 4-H Award Recipient for the Woodworking Project.
In her own words: I started watching my older brother do woodworking before I was old enough to join 4-H. He used to let me help him sand his projects, and I discovered that I love sanding. I developed a love of woodworking at that point. When I first started in the woodworking project, my Mom drew all of my plans, but over the years I have learned how to do that, and this last year I was able design and construct a buckle box, an Honor Flight bench, and a custom-made crib. I love making the wood come alive with my different projects, and I love to see the joy that those projects bring to others. Through my 4-H woodworking projects, I have been able to give back to the people and organization that have helped me, supported me, and hold a special place in my heart.

Tatum, from Wildcat District, is our State 4-H Award Recipient for the Wildlife Project. 🦌🦃
In his own words: There can be no doubt that hunting fuels my passion for the wildlife project, but through my experiences I have come to understand the bigger picture of wildlife conservation and learned to recognize and embrace my role in preserving it for future generations. I love the wildlife project because it offers an incredibly diverse field of study. My main focus this year concentrated on whitetail deer and I was privileged with countless opportunities to explore their behavior and needs. The depth and scope of the wildlife project offers a wide range of learning opportunities and has challenged me to look beyond today to impact tomorrow. The experiences I’ve had in the wildlife project have fueled my career goals to become a wildlife farm manager, through hands on training, a strong work ethic, and proactive leadership. Wildlife brings us back to our roots and demands that we do our part in making the world a better place for all species.

Corbin, Wabaunsee County, is our State 4-H Award Recipient in the Visual Arts Project.
In his own words: Solving people’s problems was one of the reasons why I built my leather business, CK Leather, and the leather items I make hopefully do just that. Mentoring younger 4-H’ers has been rewarding. I enjoy seeing their smiles when they get things right with their leather projects. These 4-H’ers are also potential future employees of CK Leather, so it’s important they learn things the right way. Teaching has forced me to learn how to explain things in different ways. In the future, I hope to continue to build and sell high quality leather goods and mentor others who want to learn leather skills. Giving back to my community is important because my mentors have done the same for me. It’s just the right thing to do.

Harry, Meadowlark District, is our State 4-H Award Recipient in the Veterinary Science Project.
In his own words: I started my 4-H experience at 3 years old as a Cloverbud. I quickly went from having my Dad help guide my cow around the show ring to helping my family plan a breeding program for our two sows. As I grew up, I knew I wanted to have a career that involved working with animals. Naturally, I was really excited when the Veterinary Science project was added because it introduced me to a new pathway that I have always been interested in. The project resonated with me because I enjoy caring for my animals and creating a bond with my fluffy friends. 4-H and the Veterinary Science project have helped mold me into who I am today.

Mason, Lyon County, is our State 4-H Award Recipient in the Swine Project. 🐷🐖🥓
In his own words: My six years in the 4-H swine project have made me more responsible and confident. When I was ten years old I got my first pig, and I knew very little about raising and showing pigs. Being a 4-H member has helped me to learn the skills it takes to grow in this project. My favorite part of the project is the friendships and mentors I have met along the way. I have gained more knowledge and skills thanks to everyone who has supported me. I am now a responsible and confident showman. Knowing that showing pigs is about far more than just feeding and showing them.

Emilia, Kearny County, is our State 4-H Award Recipient in the Shopping In Style Project.
In her own words: Throughout my eight years in 4-H, I have grown in confidence, responsibility, and leadership through experiences that challenged me to think critically and serve others. 4-H has taught me that growth happens when learning is applied beyond the project area and into everyday life. The Shopping in Style project resonated with me because it transformed something as simple as clothing into a lesson in intentional decision-making, financial responsibility, and personal presentation. As my involvement in school, church, FFA, dance, and community activities expanded, I recognized the importance of representing myself and the organizations I am part of with professionalism and respect. Through budgeting, cost-per-wear analysis, garment evaluation, and reflection, I developed skills that strengthened both my independence and my confidence. Competing and sharing my knowledge with younger members allowed me to model leadership through example and mentorship. The life skills I gained through Shopping in Style extend far beyond clothing and will continue to influence my education, career goals, and commitment to responsible citizenship.
