Senior animals are often the last to be adopted, spending up to four times longer in shelters than younger dogs.

Sadly, older pets in shelters are at higher risk for euthanasia due to factors like their lower perceived adoptability and limited resources at shelters.

Heat also affects your pets - keep them indoors or if they will be outside, make sure they have plenty of water and a shaded area to help them keep cool.

Never leave your pet alone in a vehicle, even if the window is cracked or open.

Another Senior Wellness Day!

Old Blue Inc. took Lady & Buddy to our vet Bay Animal Hospital Saturday for their exams and labwork, and are awaiting their labs.

They both enjoyed the car rides and a chance to escape the shelter, even if it was only a couple of hours.

Lady is a sweet senior Pitbull at approximately 15 years old! She has some weight to lose, and a few little growths, it was recommended that she start some prescription eyedrops and we provided those to the shelter.

Buddy is a debonair 10 year old Labrador Mix and didn’t really have any health concerns except arthritis in his back legs. We are thrilled that Buddy was ADOPTED later in the day, and we will have the shelter reach out to the adopter if they don’t contact us directly.

This is exactly why Old Blue Inc. exists. We believe a senior shelter dog’s medical needs should never be the reason they lose their chance at a family. By providing critical medical care, we can help transform shelter dogs from overlooked and uncomfortable to healthy, happy, and ADOPTABLE. ❤️

We previously introduced you to sweet Scarlett, and today we get to share the BEST news… SHE’S ADOPTED! 🎉❤️

When Scarlett came into the shelter, she needed more than just a second chance. She needed medical care, including surgery to remove several loose and painful teeth. Thanks to the incredible support of our Old Blue Inc. family, we were able to fund her dental surgery and give Scarlett the care she deserved.

And now? ✨ Scarlett is happy, healthy, and living her best life in a loving forever home! ✨
