Become a Community Inspiration

The nine-month long Leadership St. Tammany program closely follows the school year, commencing with a weekend retreat every August. There, a highly respected expert in the field of leadership training guides participants through the process of creating a simulated society, where they experience power, conflict, influence, decision-making, team building exercises and

communication skills development. Continuing with nine full-day workshops typically scheduled on the second Wednesday of each month, the program gives each participant training in leadership skills and an increased knowledge of St. Tammany Parish strengths and weaknesses through presentations by leaders and experts in specific fields, enhanced by group discussions and on-site exposure. Topics include a number of areas in which we face future challenges:

Arts/History/Culture/Tourism
Education
Social Services/Health Care
Political Activism/Media
Values-Based Leadership
Local Government
Economic Development/Planning & Growth
Judicial System/Law Enforcement
Our program concludes with a graduation banquet attended by sponsors and community members.

Last week, Leadership St. Tammany started our class on the beautiful Mandeville lakefront. Touring Old Mandeville on a trolly ride lead by City of Mandeville - Cultural Development & Events we discussed how else we can participate in community needs once this class year has ended. At the end of the day we enjoyed some jambalaya provided by our Annual Jambalaya Cookoff participants.

Looking to join the fun? Applications for Class of 2027 close April 30th!

💫 LST Alumni Friend Sponsor Spotlight 💫

Meet James Steele, the Founder & CEO of Northshore Amore—a boutique business dedicated to helping couples experience deeper love, romance, and emotional connection.

Through intentional experiences—from romantic dates and unforgettable proposals to intimate weddings, curated escapes, and photography—I help couples stay connected in a world that often pulls them apart. 💙

✨ Why I chose Leadership St. Tammany:
I was encouraged to apply by colleagues who had gone through the program. After learning more, I knew it was something special—but I truly had no idea how impactful it would be.

The experience exceeded every expectation. It connected me with incredible people and gave me a deeper appreciation for our community in ways I wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.

✨ What I gained:
A deeper understanding and respect for the complexity and strength of our community.

I learned about our local government, schools, courts, and community services—but more importantly, I saw firsthand the dedication of the people who serve our community every day. That perspective has stayed with me.

✨ Life after graduation:
Since graduating, I feel more connected to our community than ever before. It’s no longer something happening around me—it’s something I feel personally invested in.

That connection has inspired me to be more intentional about getting involved, supporting others, and doing my part to help preserve and strengthen this special place for future generations.

✨ What I’m passionate about:
Connection—within relationships and within our community.

In a world that feels busy and disconnected, I believe in slowing down and being intentional about the people who matter most. Whether through my work or personal life, I’m driven to create more love, presence, and positivity.

✨ What I want other alumni to know:
Northshore Amore was born from a very personal place.

I’ve seen how even strong relationships can drift—not because people don’t care, but because they stop being intentional.

My mission is to help couples stay connected, present, and engaged—so their love doesn’t just start strong, but continues to grow over time. 💫
