Flood Mitigation Industry Association

Flood Mitigation Industry Association To create more flood resilient communities by advocating for flood mitigation and policy change. Our mission comes in two parts.

First, we aim to help homeowners and business owners understand the steps they can take now to protect their families and homes, lower their flood insurance rates, and save money in the long run. Second, we strive to educate policy makers, highlighting the need for spending and mitigation now, rather than focusing on recovery efforts after a storm hits. Mitigation now will protect communities and safeguard our infrastructure.

RAMIFICATIONS & NEEDS
By not taking any of the mitigation measures listed above, you may be leaving your home susceptible to costly repairs, or even total destruction, from a flood event. Be sure to check out our list of partners to see companies that can help with your mitigation efforts.

The evidence is there--flood risk is increasing nationwide. With this increased risk comes higher insurance premiums along with property values and millions of structures being negatively impacted. FMIA and its partners aim to make lasting change that preserves these property values and helps keep insurance costs low.

A lot goes into knowing which mitigation methods are right for you and your assets, ranging from budget, location in a flood zone, as well as the type of structure. Your local Flood Mitigation Specialist can help assess your flood risk and provide real solutions that can protect your home and even greatly lower your flood insurance rates. Our resource page has many helpful links and information that can help you better understand your needs.
