Last weekend Troop 85 went to the River Bend Nuclear Power Plant in St. Francisville so the Scouts could work on their Nuclear Merit Badge. They were able to see and learn about a Control Room Simulator where after learning they got to press buttons and move switches. They got to play with static electricity and use geiger counters. Then they got to dress out in contamination suits. It was really interesting and a great time.

This weekend Troop 85 went on our Catch and Cook Campout at Camp Davis Campground in Ocean Springs, MS. We had a great time fishing and cooking. We caught some Redfish, Trout, and a Spanish Mackerel. I did not get any pictures, but the Raccoons were fearless. No older scouts this time but the younger scouts stepped up and took the reins.

Troop 85 went to Camp V-Bar in Mississippi in August. We practiced paddling and recovering flipped canoes in deep water....

Troop 85 had our Court of Honor in July. We had a lot of Scouts earn a bunch of Merit Badges at Summer Camp. Along with a couple of rank Advancements. We got to recognize Latyen Crawford for earning the Rank of Life Scout right before turning 18. We all had some great adventures, Layten you will be missed.

This year Troop 85 went to Camp Hood in Hazlehurst, MS for Summer Camp from June 14 through Jun 20. The scouts were able to sharpen their skills and gain new knowledge while earning their Merit Badges. We delt with some rain and some heat during the week, but had a great time.

Last month Troop 85 stayed overnight onboard the USS Alabama and got to check out the USS Drum along with the rest of the museum the following day. It was a really great trip, we got to see and touch a lot of history. All the scouts and adults had a really great time.
