Last month Troop 85 stayed overnight onboard the USS Alabama and got to check out the USS Drum along with the rest of the museum the following day. It was a really great trip, we got to see and touch a lot of history. All the scouts and adults had a really great time.

Today Troop 85 went to
Fontainebleau State Park to do some cleanup for an early Earth Day since we will be at USS Alabama next week. We cleaned up the beach finding a ton of small debris and even a tire bumper that we hauled up to the dumpster. Plenty of teamwork.

Troop 85 went to Infinity Space Center last week for a day trip. It was very cool and we got to see some very interesting stuff. We got to control an ROV to save a well and really liked the Shaping Watersheds that projected a TOPO over sand that you could shape and then cause rain to see the flow. Really cool.

Troop 85 had a Cooking Campout this Weekend. It was a great time. The scouts cooked some amazing meals, did some fishing and had an overall good time. We had Camp Donuts along with Sausage, Egg and Cheese Croissants for breakfast. Mighty Duck Patrol had Fish Tacos and Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch. The Minotaur Patrol had Walking Tacos with fresh Pico de gallo made at camp. For dinner the Minotaur Patrol made Chicken and Sausage Gumbo with rice. Mighty Duck Patrol made Orange Glazed Chicken with Rice, steamed Broccoli and fresh Pineapple. For desert there Rice Pudding and Apple "CINNAMON" Cobbler (which ended up going with breakfast on Sunday). On Sunday the adults cooked breakfast, scratch made Biscuits and Sausage Gravy along with a Bacon-Wrapped and Stuffed Breakfast Sausage Fatty.

At our campout Saturday night, our troop gathered around the fire for a Flag Retirement Ceremony. In silence, we honored many flag’s years of service before retiring them with the respect they deserved. Your scouts were given eyelets from the retired flags these eyelets can be give to a service member as a token of respect for their service.

Troop 85 had our Court of Honor last week of February. We had 11 Scouts earn their Scout Ranks. Along with some older Scouts that earned some Merit Badges. We also got to recognize Aiden McGhee for earning the Rank of Eagle Scout. He had his Eagle Board of Review on the weekend of the Scout Skills Campout. Congratulations Aiden.

Troop 85 had our Scout Skills Campout in February and it was an amazing success. Many of the new Scouts were able to earn their Scout Rank by showing that they were able learn about the Troop, their Patrols, Scout Oath and Law, knots, etc. Way to go guys. As usual we had some great food including French Toast, Pancakes, Bacon, Lasagna, Caesar Salad and a Cobbler. It was a great time.
