Azalia Walker Edwards was a lady with an enormous loving heart. She would open her heart and home to anyone, especially her kitchen. It didn't matter if you were friend or foe, she didn't want to see anyone hungry. If she couldn't afford to help someone out she would turn to family and friends. They would all pull their resources to help someone in need. Azalia wasn't financially w

ealthy. She had a wealth of compassion and love. Azalia's love for helping other people passed down to her descendants. Hence the start of Azalia's Heart, The Azalia Walker Edwards Foundation. Azalia’s Heart was founded in November 2020. We are a nonprofit 501(C)(3) community outreach organization. The founders are DaVen, Dionne, Hakim, and Geneva Lewis. Our Board of Directors consist of humanitarians with hearts for helping individuals and families improve their quality of life. Our mission is to assist individuals and families with sustaining a higher quality of life. We have served over 3500 individuals and families over the last 17 years. We started aiding for individuals and families in May 2003. Over the years we have provided thousands of meals and toiletry items to the Metropolitan area’s homeless individuals and families. We have also provided gifts, clothes and household items to the Metropolitan area battered women’s shelter. The aid provided over the years has been self-funded. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have not been able to afford to provide assistance to our homeless and underserved individuals and families. Azalia’s Heart is an organization of resources for individuals and families of the New Orleans Metropolitan area. Our assistance is available 24 hours a day. We welcome your donations and referrals.

💖 Thank You for Making a Difference! 💖
On behalf of Azalia's Heart Foundation, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has donated to support our mission. Because of your generosity, approximately 50 students across Southeast Louisiana will receive much needed school supplies and school uniforms as they prepare for the new school year.

Through our partnerships with school social workers, we will place these resources directly into the hands of some of our most vulnerable students, children experiencing housing insecurities who need a little extra support to thrive.

Every gift matters. Whether your donation is large or small, it joins with others to create a lasting impact. Together, we are helping students walk into the classroom with confidence, dignity, and hope for a brighter future.

🩷Thank You for Your Support! 🩷

On behalf of, Azalia’s Heart, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has donated so far. Your generosity is already making a difference in the lives of underserved individuals and families throughout the New Orleans area.

With your support, we are working to provide:
📚 School supplies and uniforms for underserved students
🍽️ Meals for individuals and families in need
🧴 Toiletries and personal care items
🧥 Winter supplies for those facing difficult circumstances

Every dollar donated helps us place essential items directly into the hands of those who need them most and have limited means to provide for themselves.

Our fundraising goal is $5,000, and thanks to your kindness, we have raised $1468! We also received a donation of school supplies for 25 students, and 10 uniform shirts. While we still have a long way to go, every contribution no matter the size brings us one step closer to helping more members of our community.
