Azalia Walker Edwards was a lady with an enormous loving heart. She would open her heart and home to anyone, especially her kitchen. It didn't matter if you were friend or foe, she didn't want to see anyone hungry. If she couldn't afford to help someone out she would turn to family and friends. They would all pull their resources to help someone in need. Azalia wasn't financially w

ealthy. She had a wealth of compassion and love. Azalia's love for helping other people passed down to her descendants. Hence the start of Azalia's Heart, The Azalia Walker Edwards Foundation. Azalia’s Heart was founded in November 2020. We are a nonprofit 501(C)(3) community outreach organization. The founders are DaVen, Dionne, Hakim, and Geneva Lewis. Our Board of Directors consist of humanitarians with hearts for helping individuals and families improve their quality of life. Our mission is to assist individuals and families with sustaining a higher quality of life. We have served over 3500 individuals and families over the last 17 years. We started aiding for individuals and families in May 2003. Over the years we have provided thousands of meals and toiletry items to the Metropolitan area’s homeless individuals and families. We have also provided gifts, clothes and household items to the Metropolitan area battered women’s shelter. The aid provided over the years has been self-funded. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have not been able to afford to provide assistance to our homeless and underserved individuals and families. Azalia’s Heart is an organization of resources for individuals and families of the New Orleans Metropolitan area. Our assistance is available 24 hours a day. We welcome your donations and referrals.

For over five years, Azalia’s Heart has been committed to serving families throughout the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area. Together, we have impacted more than 7,500 citizens through programs that provide:

🏠 Disaster Relief for Our Community

Honoring the Legacy of Azalia Walker Edwards

Today, we proudly celebrate the enduring legacy of Azalia Walker Edwards—a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and pillar of compassion in our community. To know her was to love her. Azalia was a true peacemaker with a generous heart, always ready to offer a warm meal and even warmer love to anyone in need.

In her memory, we are continuing her legacy of giving by supporting students in need with school uniforms and essential supplies. With your generous donation, we can ensure that every child starts the school year with confidence and dignity.

This fundraiser was to help us with our yearly school supplies & school uniforms for the underserved students in our community.
