Chicken Creek Nordic A nordic ski area located just outside of Mancos, CO in the San Juan National Forest. Chicken Creek is located 2.6 miles up CR40 Millwood Road off Highway 184.

SHORTEST SEASON IN HISTORY

Brad and Ross groomed with support back at the chicken coop from Peter and Joan for a total of 13 person hours. Half of Lower Bauer (didn't want to cross the flowing creek), Upper Bauer, Rush Connector, and Rush Loop got the corduroy treatment. Several passes were made with the rollers and then combed. No classic track set. Starting with 12-16" of fresh powder on top of dirt it is still kind of thin but decent. Expect soft powdery conditions. Rock skis recommended if you have them. Temps look good to get this thru Sunday morning and then all bets are off.

No signage has been installed, but remember dogs are welcome on Bauer loops. Rush Connector and Rush Loop are a dog free zone.

The parking lot may not be plowed, but it is already getting pretty mashed down. Don't park too far off the flat part of the parking lot or you will get stuck!

Folks, we are going to try grooming this afternoon/evening. Lots of moisture next to the ground so we will see what we get. This will be the first groom since Feb 17, 2024 - wow!
