We’re getting excited for our National Trails Day workday tomorrow (June 6)! If you plan to join us, head towards Transfer Campground, and go just a bit further to the Upper Chicken Creek Trailhead (note, this is not the Chicken Creek trail system off of Road 40). https://maps.app.goo.gl/rEuXFQp1iFhjNa8F8?g_st=ic

We’ll gather at 8:30am and plan to work on several trail sections in the area, ending with a cookout to celebrate our local trails and volunteers, ending around 3pm. Wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and bring water and snacks, work gloves if you have them, and a chair for the cookout. We’ll supply tools, lunch fixings, drinks, and crew leaders to guide the work. Fun, swag, giveaways, and great company await!

High country update! Twin Lakes road up to the Sharkstooth TH still has snow drifts, but high clearance vehicles have created two-track through the snow drifts. The trail up to Sharkstooth likely has lots of snow drifts in the trees. Sharkstooth TH-N. Fork Trail jct has lots of snow drifts, which means you're walking almost as much as riding. Below N. Fork Jct the trail is dry and conditions are great!

Our June 6th trail work day will be an extra special one to celebrate National Trails Day! If you enjoy our local trails, this is a great day to give back and have some fun with fellow trail enthusiasts. Lunch and drinks will be provided following trail work. MTG partner Osprey Packs will be giving out some great prizes! No trail work experience, no problem - wear sturdy close-toed shoes and bring water, sun protection, a chair (for after the work) and a helping attitude and we’ll get it done! We hope to see you there! American Hiking Society

The Aqueduct Trail System is open 🥳
https://www.mancostrails.org/aqueduct-trail-system.html

The Aqueduct trails opened on May 1st and have been very popular with locals and other SW Colorado and NE New Mexico "visitors". The trails over-wintered very well, but the substantial spring freeze-thaw cycles really softened up the surface.

Bicycle riders should try to ride in the center of the trail, and especially use caution on downhill sections and sharp turns, because the sides of the trails are still very soft.

The porty-potty has been delivered and the shade pavilion with picnic table and changing room are available for your use at the main trailhead.

Please be kind to the trails and wait at least 48 hours after significant rain to ride Aqueduct.

Happy Trails!

In 2023, MTG along with the BLM, completed construction on the 12.6 mile trail system. Located just two miles from town, these trails will eventually be accessible from Mancos via the Paths to Mesa...
