Thank you to everyone who came out to work this morning. We had a clear enough window of weather for the work time itself, however last night’s heavy rain made for muddy conditions, leading to us canceling at the last minute.
We ended up going for a beautiful group hike up to Big Al instead. We’re regrouping and hope to pull off a work day next Saturday, 10/17. Stay tuned!

Join us tomorrow morning to soak up peak Fall colors and give our trails some TLC ahead of the next rainy system set to roll in after our work day ends in the afternoon. We’ll meet at 9am at the Upper Chicken Creek trailhead (just across from Transfer campground). Hope to see you there!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Come out and lend a helping hand at the Mancos Cowboy Half Marathon, 5K Race, and the Alpacka Raft Kids' Fun Run in support of the Mancos Public Library. Volunteers are needed Friday evening, October 23rd for racer check-in and on Saturday, October 24th for racer check-in, staffing aid stations, and help at the Post-Race Celebration.

MTG's OCTOBER 10th TRAIL WORK DAY is ON! We will be working on the Upper Chicken Creek segment of the Mancos Spur Trail. Meet at the Upper Chicken Creek trailhead (just past Transfer Campground) at 9:00am, hike in a mile to begin the work, and enjoy a cookout at the trailhead to wrap up the day. Remember to wear sturdy closed toe shoes/boots, long pants, sun protection, and bring water, snacks, work gloves if you have them, and any medications you might need. Bring a chair for lunch time sitting. We hope to see you Saturday.

We know how much fun time on trails is and are thrilled to see clear skies coming soon, and it’s muddy out there. Mud brings serious trail damage potential if folks head out too soon. Please remember to give trails time to dry once things clear. “If you’re leaving a track head back” - whether that track be left by feet, paws, hooves, or tread. We all play a role in keep our trails in good standing. Thanks all!
