Join us for a free CME webinar: Recognizing and Responding to Survivors of Human Trafficking

Human trafficking can go unrecognized in health care and service settings, resulting in missed opportunities to identify concerns and connect individuals with appropriate support.

The Hanley Center for Health Leadership & Education invites you to a one-hour webinar led by Hailey Virusso, LCSW, Director of Anti-Trafficking Services at Preble Street, exploring risk factors and warning signs, barriers to disclosure, effective assessment approaches, and resources available to support individuals who may be experiencing trafficking.

This week, the MMA team came together for our annual staff outing.

It was a welcome opportunity to spend time together outside the office, connect as colleagues, and reflect on the work we do together throughout the year.

We’re grateful for our team and the many people who contribute to our shared work across Maine’s medical community.

An important message from Maine’s healthcare associations:

The Maine Medical Association and partner organizations remain committed to supporting Maine families with trusted, evidence-based vaccine guidance and access to safe and effective immunizations.

In response to the August 10 executive order related to childhood immunizations, our organizations have released a joint statement outlining concerns about the potential impact on access to routine childhood vaccination and the health and well-being of Maine children and families.

We encourage families to continue speaking with their trusted clinicians about the vaccines that will best protect their children.

We were proud to participate in the American Medical Association Roundtable in California this week, where advocacy leaders from state medical associations across the country came together to discuss policy issues, legislative trends, and strategies for advancing medicine and patient care through state advocacy.

MMA's Director of Advocacy was selected to serve as a panelist during a roundtable discussion, sharing her expertise and experiences on the evolving state advocacy landscape.

Opportunities like these strengthen collaboration among state medical associations and help bring new ideas and perspectives back to support physicians and patients here in Maine.
