What do you say? Want to get a NH crew to the Tour of Tucson next year?

On Saturday morning, we’ll be at for the big El Tour de Tucson training ride at Loop de Loop at Rillito Park — join us to learn more about the big event in November, on SEPTEMBER 26th! Bike along any part of the Chuck Huckelberry Loop and enjoy live music, food vendors, prizes, and more! The ride starts at 7 AM. After party is at 10 AM! Ride with us or just come learn about Team BICAS at our table at Rillito Park! There are El Tour rides of all lengths, 1-mile route, 102-mile route, the 5K run/walk, or one of many others, so don’t be afraid to join!

Nonprofit riders ride at reduced prices, as well as receiving discounts on El Tour merch, and early registration to El Tour Expo! Kids under 18 will ride price-free with a riding parent. SEE YOU AT LOOP DE LOOP🤩 link in our bio to join Team BICAS!

Important work being done for the safety of pedestrians & bike riders in our community. Thank you!

I promised I would follow up on Belmont St & Lake Ave, see below on what’s to come!

Below is a sketch and timeline of when we expect work could be complete:

· Install pedestrian crossing signs at the crosswalk (need to wait on dig safe so probably 2 weeks)

· Install pedestrian crossing ahead signs at Milton (need to wait on dig safe so probably 2 weeks)

· Install no parking here to corner signs on Belmont north of Lake (need to dig safe so probably 2 weeks)

· Install hatched area on Lake Ave to narrow roadway (as time permits, likely at least a month out)

· Install double yellow on Belmont (as time permits, likely at least month out)

· Have tree crew trim branches slightly blocking stop sign on sb approach (Parks was looking a this yesterday, they will get a timeline on this soon to do the work, more to come).

These are measures we are taking now, with the hopes of having more permanent solutions to slow traffic down:

· Examples include installing a bump out on the corner of Lake Ave and Belmont - more info to come.

· Referring to our Age & Friendly Action Plan through Manchester Health Department to see what other improvement we can add in and utilize other Citywide safety action plans for additional guidance.

We will also work with Manchesternhpd to ensure drivers are not speeding down Lake Ave and stopping properly at the Stop Signs of Belmont and Lake Ave.

Shoutout to our traffic engineer (Kristen) for supporting us with this, we could have not done this without you.

I also want to mention that I was joined by Alderman Bryce Kaw-uh for Ward 1 Alderman June Trisciani , and Parks Commissioner, Thomas Bozoian - gracias for your input and support on this.

LIGHTS! We distribute free lights from the shop and at some events. We're at 35 Elm until end of month and then QC Bike moves to 803 Elm! Thank you to Seacoast Area Bicycle Riders - SABR for an important, effective post!

Alternative transportation connecting our neighborhoods! Congratulations!

It’s almost time. June 22 marks the commencement of MTA’s Route 42 Northside Plaza/Livingston Park. The route travels north on Maple St from Price Rite on Valley St to Livingston Park and Northside Plaza. The bus will then travel south on Beech St to the Elliot Health Center back to Price Rite. All MTA buses are ADA accessible and this service will operate hourly from 7:15am until after 4:00pm daily, including Saturdays.

This pilot program was developed through the Age-Friendly Manchester Initiative, led by the City of Manchester NH Health Department, to improve mobility, independence, and access to essential destinations for older adults and residents throughout our community.
