NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire

NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and famili Our seminars are held in Nashua, Manchester, and Concord.

NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire was founded in 1992 as Manchester Neighborhood Housing Services, changing our public name in 2013. In our 29-year history, the organization has evolved from being primarily focused on the affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization needs of Manchester's Center City neighborhood to an organization with a regional focus on affordable housing community deve

lopment, and neighborhood revitalization. We develop affordable rental and ownership housing in a total of 31 communities in southern New Hampshire (including Manchester and Nashua) and provide homeownership and financial wellness education programs for residents of a total of 81 New Hampshire communities, extending from the state's southern border to the Lakes Region and offered through the branded HOMEteam name. We work in the most economically challenged neighborhoods in New Hampshire's two largest cities where investment is needed to improve housing stock and neighborhood aesthetics. Just under 1,500 individuals (children, teens, and adults) live in our rental units, which currently total 504 units and are located in Amherst, Goffstown, Hooksett, Londonderry, Manchester, Nashua, and Merrimack. We have provided homeownership and financial wellness education and one-on-one counseling to thousands of New Hampshire residents, helping hundreds purchase their first home. Our impact on housing and neighborhood revitalization in the state has been significant. The housing we have created and programs we offer help to better the lives of those in need, improve neighborhood aesthetics, and spur investment and economic activity in our focus communities.

We were pleased to welcome guests yesterday to a gathering of partners of the Apartments at Pearl & Orange, as well as Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Chris Pappas and other supporters of our organization. Guests were able to see progress on this $70 million project in The City of Manchester NH - Government that will bring 126 new one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, 12 new townhomes, and a 455-space parking garage to the former Pearl Street parking lot. Rents for the apartments will range from $1,100 per month to $1,800 per month.

Robert Tourigny, NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire's Executive Director, commented that "we are proud to be part of the team that is transforming this 3-acre site with much-needed affordable apartments and townhomes while preserving city parking with a 455-space parking garage." He also presented Senator Shaheen with a framed photo of 249 Main Street in The City of Nashua, NH in recognition of her work in support of our organization both as Governor and Senator.

“People can’t feel safe about their lives or their families if they don’t have a safe, comfortable, affordable place to live, and that is what NeighborWorks is all about,” Shaheen said. Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais said the project is a great example of how government, nonprofits and the private sector can all work together to “make something that the city truly needs.” Congressman Pappas touted the project as the kind of housing we need in our communities.
