Valley Street Jail/HCDOC Exposed

Our passion is prison and jail reform and exposing those who make the choice to use their positions of authority, to treat inmates as less than human beings. Our focus is giving those who have been to Valley Street Jail (Hillsborough County Department of Corrections) or those with friends and family members a chance to speak up. We feel that the more exposure they have, the more of a chance we have to see it shut down or run by someone new that is competent and cares about human rights.

Most jails including HCDOC, do not follow their required mission to rehabilitate their inmates which is what it is originally meant for.

According to USAJOBS.ORG, the mission of correctional officers is: “To protect society and positively change the lives of those in our care. You have a vital role in that mission. You are valued and trained to be prepared. You are rewarded beyond benefits with careers that offer endless professional potential and personal growth.”

The position overview of a corrections officer in HCDOC is: “Maintains control and safety of detainees (inmates) of the County jail. Oversees inmates at all times including work, recreation, meal times and while in special holding area.”
