Manchester Urban Ponds Restoration Program - NH 27th Year of Spring 2026 Pond & Park Cleanups

Are you interested in getting outside, meeting new people, and doing something good for your community and the environment?

Are you not afraid of a little dirt, muck, or unusual finds? Do you want to compete for the “Most Interesting or Unusual Piece of Trash” award and all the accolades it brings?

If so, please consider bringing yourself, a friend, a sense of community spirit, and a sense of humor and joining!

All cleanups are scheduled from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Please arrive no later than 8:50 am to sign in and receive an overview of the area and instructions. Trash bags, latex gloves, and trash pickers will be available. Please wear rubber boots if you have them and dress appropriately for weather as cleanups are held rain or shine!

Water-based paint will be labeled "acrylic," "latex," or "water-based." Another hint is that paint can be cleaned off of hands with soap and water and has low VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). Most paint now sold at big-box stores is water-based. Here's how to dispose of water-based paint:

NH the Beautiful is disappointed to learn that the demand has slowed for recycled #1 PET, such as clear plastic water bottles. But don't stop recycling them!

Pennsylvania using tons of recycled glass to rebuild collapsed I-95
Instead of rebuilding the overpass right away, crews will use the recycled glass to fill in the collapsed area to avoid supply-chain delays for other materials, Gov. Josh Shapiro said.

Burlington County Commissioner Deputy Director Tom Pullion... “It’s a great example of where recycling ends up and how it can make a difference. Every glass bottle and jar we toss into recycling containers matters, so we encourage our residents to continue to recycle right.”

Many towns in NH use recycled glass aggravate in culvert drainage projects, etc.

NH transfer stations have been busy this spring. New Hampshire the Beautiful recently awarded sign grants, meaning free facility signs for the following communities: Dunbarton, Candia, Chester, New Durham, Fitzwilliam, Cornish, Loudon, Pelham, New Hampton, Lee, Pembroke and Lancaster.
