How did you spend your weekend? Troop 314 attended the Elk River District Camporee at Camp Arrowhead. They took part in some friendly competition and learned new skills. Orienteering, knot tying, shooting sports, outdoor cooking and fire starting/building were parts of the morning and afternoon followed by the always popular Skits!
Troop 314 represented well! If you have a local youth that’s interested in activities like these, come check us out. We meet Tuesdays from 6:30-8 at 164 Will Hickerson Rd in Tullahoma.

Troop 314 hits the great outdoors — and doesn't hold back!
February 27th through March 1st, Troop 314 made the most of the end of February with a packed weekend at the Henry Horton State Park Group Campsite! The Scouts set up camp, hit the trails along Hickory Ridge, explored some seriously cool mossy rock formations, and even busted out the solar cooker.
When they weren't taking in the scenery, they were on the fairways — knocking out all 18 holes at the Henry Horton Course on Saturday and the Front 9 at River Mill Course Sunday morning before heading home.
Oh, and rumor has it Bigfoot was spotted at camp Friday night...
Big thanks to everyone who came out for an awesome weekend!

Our Court of Honor went well last night. We had 11 merit badges, 2 Conservation awards and 3 Rank Advancements awarded. These young men have been busy this year. The Scouts ran the program and worked on their public speaking.

If you have a young man who enjoys the outdoors, learning new skills, and serving the community, come check us out.

What a magical evening! Huge “THANK YOU!” to the Chamber for putting together such an event. Troop 314 was thankful to be a part of the event! The Scouts worked on their salesmanship and, due to the generosity of the community, were able to raise funds to help offset their activities’ (Summer Camp, Leadership Training, etc) costs.

Over the weekend, Troop 314 traversed, and conquered, the trail from Stone Door to Saw Mill. Let’s just say that the Scouts did a fantastic job. Their Scoutmaster…? I’ve needed ibuprofen for the past couple of days. That was some beautiful scenery with some very rocky elevation changes. Here are a few pics of our adventure. My favorite, as usual, is the campfire at the end of a long day.

Court of Honor last week. Our MC didn’t disappoint. (He had the crowd rolling!)

35+ Merit Badges awarded and 10 other Awards. These Scouts have been busy!

Merit Badges ranged from Archery to Space Exploration and all the things in between.

We had a Rank Advancement for one to Life Rank (IYKYK).

We also had three attend NYLT (National Youth Ledership Training), one who completed NAYLE (National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience) and three get inducted into the OA (Order of the Arrow- BSA’s Honor Society).

Very proud of the hard work and dedication these young men have demonstrated towards their growth and advancement!

And, as a group, they participated in over 30 hours of Community Service!

Day 2, and final day, is off to a good start. It’s quiet on the lake at 5:30 and the Sun will greet us soon! The Scouts ...

Day 2, and final day, is off to a good start. It’s quiet on the lake at 5:30 and the Sun will greet us soon! The Scouts made their breakfasts, packed up and we headed home. It was a good adventure for sure!
