CCM members have been out in the community distributing digital calendars and stickers reminding retailers and customers that to***co sales are only permitted to those 21 and older. Keeping Manchester’s youth ni****ne-free is one of our top priorities, and prevention starts with ensuring retailers have the resources and information they need.

Vapes contain far more than just ni****ne. Many va**ng products also expose users to harmful chemicals and toxic metals that can have serious effects on long-term health. Ingredients such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, diacetyl, and heavy metals have been found in v**e aerosols and are associated with lung damage, respiratory disease, and an increased risk of certain cancers. What may seem like a safer alternative can expose your body to a dangerous mix of toxic substances.

2025 Youth Voices Count Survey data shows that approximately 87.9% of surveyed Manchester Connecticut students in grades 7-12 have NEVER used a ni****ne v**e product. You are not the "odd one out" for not va**ng ni****ne, you are in the majority.

If you or someone you know is trying to quit va**ng, support is accesible. Text "DITCHVAPE" to 88709, or visit Teen.SmokeFree.gov for step by step quit plans and and help tailored to teens.

The effects of cannabis use during the teen years can last far beyond the moment. Regular cannabis use can impact brain development, mental health, academic success, athletic performance, and overall well-being. While it may seem like a way to cope or escape, it can often make challenges more difficult over time.

2025 Youth Voices Count Survey date shows that approximately 89.5% of Manchester students in grades 7-12 have never used ma*****na in their lifetime. You are not the "odd one out" for staying sober, you are in the majority.

If you or someone you know is struggling to stop using cannabis, support is available. Call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) or visit www.youthrecoveryct.org to learn about resources and take the first step toward recovery.

Edibles can look just like candy kids love, which makes it easy to grab it by mistake. If you have cannabis in your home, lock it and store it out of reach. Visit BeInTheKnowCT.org to find out how you can get a free lock bag.

As 4th of July celebrations approach, the Change Collaborative of Manchester wants to remind our community about Connecticut's Social Host Law. While it may seem safer to allow your child and their friends to drink at home, it is illegal. In 2012, Connecticut passed a law making it illegal to knowingly allow anyone under the age of 21 to possess alcohol on private property. This holiday, celebrate safely and responsibly by protecting our youth from underage drinking.
