Today, Manchester Rotary joins Rotarians around the world in recognizing World Polio Day and renewing our commitment to a polio-free world!

Through Rotary Internationalā€™s End Polio Now campaign, Rotarians have helped immunize millions of children and bring the world closer than ever to eradicating this preventable disease.

While tremendous progress has been made, our work is not finished. Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy and free from the threat of polio. Together, through awareness, vaccination, and continued support, we can help make that vision a reality.

Rotaryā€™s mission is simple: Finish the fight. End polio now!

This week our club had the pleasure of welcoming Sheila Proffitt, Clerk and Master, as our guest speaker!

Sheila gave us an informative look into the important work of the Chancery Court and the many ways her office serves our community. We learned about wills and estate planning, probate and settling estates, guardianships and conservatorships, property disputes, and other legal matters handled through the court. āš–ļø

These are topics that can affect individuals and families at different stages of life, and Sheila helped us better understand the processes involved and the resources available when these situations arise.

It was an extra-special treat to welcome Sheila because she is the mother of our very own Rotary President, Hayden Proffitt! We always enjoy opportunities to learn from members of our community, and having a special family connection made this weekā€™s meeting even more meaningful.

Thank you, Sheila, for sharing your knowledge, answering our questions, and helping us better understand the important services your office provides to Coffee County!

Our Rotary literacy/education project continues to make its way into local classrooms! Rotarians Rick and Cari Bohlander recently visited East Coffee Elementary to deliver dictionaries to the third-grade students. šŸ“šŸ“–

These dictionaries are more than just books; theyā€™re tools that encourage curiosity, build vocabulary, and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Weā€™re proud to support our local students and teachers as they continue to grow and discover new things! At Rotary, we believe that investing in education is investing in our communityā€™s future.

šŸ“š Building Readers, One Word at a Time!

Our literacy project made another exciting stop at New Union Elementary! Rotarian Scot St. John delivered thesauruses to third-grade students to help expand their vocabulary and support their learning. šŸ“–

The students couldnā€™t wait to write their names inside their new books and were already busy looking up words! The teachers shared that they were just about to begin using thesauruses in their studies. The timing couldnā€™t have been better!

Itā€™s a wonderful reminder that sometimes the simplest gifts can make a meaningful difference in a childā€™s education. Manchester Rotary is proud to support literacy and help young learners discover the power of words!

Rotarians Hayden and Abigail Proffitt were excited to visit Westwood Elementary and deliver copies of Matilda to the third-grade students!

Thereā€™s something special about putting a great book into a childā€™s hands and opening the door to a world of imagination, adventure, and discovery. šŸ“– We hope these students enjoy following Matildaā€™s journey and discover just how much fun reading can be!

šŸ“š Rotary Literacy Project: First Stop, North Coffee Elementary! āœļø

Weā€™re excited to kick off our literacy project at North Coffee Elementary! Rotarian Neal Glass recently delivered multiplication flash cards to third-grade students to support their learning and help strengthen their math skills.

At Rotary, we believe that investing in education is an investment in our communityā€™s future. By providing students with tools to practice and build confidence in their learning, we hope to make a positive difference in the classroom and beyond.

A big thank you to North Coffee Elementary for partnering with us and to Neal for helping put our commitment to education into action! šŸ§®

They were honored by fellow Rotarian Ken Kimble in recognition of their outstanding Service Above Self and their many contributions to our community and the lives of others.

The Paul Harris Fellowship recognizes individuals who exemplify the Rotary spirit of giving, service, and making a positive difference in the world. Ivy and Matt are wonderful examples of how serving others can strengthen our community and inspire those around us.

Our club was pleased to welcome Dr. Melody Edmonds from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) this week as our guest speaker. Dr. Edmonds shared exciting updates about the wonderful things happening at their new Manchester location an extension of the McMinnville campus!

Dr. Edmonds shared that the campus is currently at full capacity, reflecting the growing demand for technical education and workforce training in our community. TCAT is continually exploring opportunities to add new programs that will meet the needs of tomorrowā€™s workforce and prepare students for successful careers.

She also shared information about TCAT Reconnect, an opportunity for individuals to return to school and gain additional skills or training even if they already have a college degree! Itā€™s a great reminder that learning is a lifelong journey and that new career opportunities are always within reach.

We appreciate Dr. Edmonds taking the time to share how TCAT is making a difference in our community and helping build a stronger workforce for the future!

šŸ€This week, weā€™re proud to celebrate 4-H and the incredible young people, families, volunteers, and leaders who make this program so special! šŸ€

Our Rotary Club is honored to have a partnership with our local 4-H program and to support their mission of helping young people learn, grow, lead, and become active members of their communities. One of our favorite traditions is working alongside 4-H to operate out Joint Funnel Cake Booth at the Coffee County Fair! What may look like a delicious funnel cake to our fairgoers represents so much more; itā€™s an opportunity for our organizations to work together and raise funds that go right back into supporting kids and youth.

Rotary believes in Service Above Self and supporting our youth is one of the best ways we can serve our community and invest in its future.

Happy National 4-H Week! We are proud to stand alongside 4-H and cheer on the next generation of leaders! šŸ€
