When You Move Too Fast to See God at Work

Have you ever moved through a season so quickly that you only recognized what God was doing after it was over?

While visiting the Louvre, Tom Knickerbocker watched people race toward the Mona Lisa while passing countless works of art along the way. In โ€œSlow Down and See the Brushstrokes,โ€ he asks whether we sometimes do the same thing with God.

Through Abramโ€™s story in Genesis 12, we see three brushstrokes of Godโ€™s faithfulness:

God commands.
God commits.
God confirms.

Then Abram moves.

This message invites us to slow down, notice what God has already revealed, and respond instead of remaining passive.

๐Ÿ‘‡ Weโ€™d love to hear your story: When have you looked back and finally recognized that God had been working all along?

Slow Down and See the Brushstrokes | Sunday Worship

Welcome to worship at The Salvation Army Manchester Citadel!

Sometimes we become so focused on the unfinished picture that we miss the evidence of God already at work.

Today, Tom Knickerbocker shares โ€œSlow Down and See the Brushstrokes,โ€ a message from Genesis 12:1โ€“5 about Abrahamโ€™s willingness to follow God without knowing exactly where the journey would lead.

God may not show us the entire picture at onceโ€”but every act of trust becomes another brushstroke in the work He is creating.

Say hello in the comments and let us know where you are watching from today. You may also leave a prayer request so our church family can pray with you.

Through freezing cold, losing shoes in mud, and crawling under barbed wire, the thought of his dad being there gave him the strength to push forward. Your Heavenly Father is with you too, making all the difference.

A young doctor and his wife, with a substantial family, felt God's call to serve as missionaries in India. Despite warnings of difficulty and danger, they trusted the promise, 'Go and I will be with you.' They went, and God was indeed with them, a testament to their faith and His presence.

Another successful Donut Day is in the books, thanks to the generosity of our community partners. A heartfelt thank you to Lyman Orchards for donating 700 fresh donuts, helping us celebrate this cherished Salvation Army tradition in a meaningful way. Salvation Army officers from across Connecticut picked up their donuts this morning and will be sharing them with veterans at VA hospitals throughout the state.

As we celebrate, we also honor the legacy of The Salvation Army's Donut Lassies. During World War I, these courageous women served alongside soldiers near the front lines, providing comfort, encouragement, and of course, fresh donuts. What began as a simple gesture of care more than a century ago has grown into the National Donut Day tradition we continue today.

Today is about more than donuts. It's about remembering those who served, honoring those who continue to serve, and sharing a moment of kindness with our veterans. We're proud to carry on that tradition and grateful to everyone helping make it possible.

Even if you weren't expecting it, God is with you, especially during hard times. This morning might be more than just a sermon or music; it could be a personal encounter with the divine.
