Last night was a beautiful evening at Manchester Rotary as we celebrated our 18th Annual Guatemala Water Project Check Presentation and, more importantly, recognized the extraordinary dedication and leadership of Rick Lawrence.

For more than 20 years, Rick has been instrumental in leading District 7890’s Guatemala Water Projects, helping bring the gift of clean, safe water to communities in need.

Through this incredible work, Rick and our Rotary partners have helped complete projects in:

💧 31 villages
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 3,639 families
🚰 More than 22,397 people gaining access to clean water
🌎 14 Global Grants successfully overseen
🇬🇹 And now preparing for Global Grant #15 in El Rosario

These numbers tell an incredible story, but they only begin to capture the true impact. Behind every number is a family, a child, and an entire community whose lives have been changed because Rotarians cared enough to serve.

Rick’s commitment, leadership, and passion for this project are an extraordinary example of Service Above Self. His work has created a legacy that will continue to provide healthier, stronger futures for generations of families in Guatemala.

Congratulations, Rick an d Elin, and thank you for 20 years of making a difference!

What a beautiful night at Manchester Rotary! 💙💛

As part of our monthly Rotary service project, members of our club spent time this month volunteering at MACC Charities in Manchester. Rotarians assisted with food service at the Community Kitchen, helping prepare and serve meals to community members experiencing food insecurity and ensuring a welcoming, dignified environment for all who came through the doors.

MACC Charities’ mission of building partnerships to break cycles of poverty has been a cornerstone of community care for more than 50 years, offering not only daily meals through their kitchen but also emergency food assistance, outreach services, and more.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve with MACC and to contribute to their vital efforts to support neighbors in need. Being present in service reminds us of Rotary’s commitment to community care, dignity, and compassion in action.

We were honored to host members of FRC Team 7153 — Aetos Dios at our regular Rotary meeting on January 6. These remarkable high school girls from Manchester’s FIRST Robotics Competition team presented with exceptional poise, professionalism, and confidence, sharing insights into their robotics program, community outreach, and STEAM education mission. Aetos Dios, part of Connecticut 4-H and the FIRST Robotics community, develops practical skills in engineering, teamwork, and leadership while inspiring the next generation of innovators.

Rotarians were truly impressed by the achievements and activities of this team, and the passion these young leaders bring to their work. We are excited to stand with them as sponsors, and we look forward to supporting their continued growth and success in robotics and beyond.

In December, members of the Rotary Club of Manchester teamed up with the Rotary Club of Rockville for a hands-on service project at Midwest Food Bank. While breaking down boxes may seem like a small task, it plays an important role in allowing donated boxes to be reused to ship food to partner organizations and families in need. Together, our clubs broke down 675 boxes in just one morning. The pallets pictured show the many boxes still awaiting this important work, proof that there is always a need for service and more helping hands, and that even simple efforts can make a meaningful impact when we work together.
