Congratulations to Brother Hoehn on a long and successful career!

Congratulations to Firefighter Mike Hoehn, as he works the last shift of a 25 year career today. Hired in September 2001 by then Chief Weber, Mike operated as a Firefighter Paramedic with assignments at Stations 2 and 1 before transitioning to a Firefighter position at Station 2. Mike became an accomplished Truckman, working essentially his entire career on Ladder companies. He functioned as a lead instructor in the department's Aerial Operator and Truck Training classes and was instrumental in the establishment and the continuing work of the Peer Support Team. Mike received a Purple Heart award after sustaining significant injuries during the 801 Main St fire in October 2013, before going on to work on the department's only 107 foot ladder upon his return. He was recognized for Life Saving for multiple incidents both on and off duty, and also awarded numerous crew, shift and campaign recognitions as well. Mike also has the unique distinction of working on Shift 4 for his entire career, as well as working exclusively at the department's two busiest companies. Mike leaves the department having attended countless incidents and caring for thousands, mentoring and training scores of Firefighters along the way. Best wishes for a happy and healthy retirement!

Today was the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Pine Street Firehouse, which functioned as a firehouse for the South Manchester Fire Department, and was eventually converted into a museum for the Connecticut Fireman’s Historical Society. Members of Local 1579 attended the event to take in the history. Well worth stopping by for anyone interested in fire history!

🚒 Delivery Day in Manchester, CT! 🚒

Congratulations to the Manchester Fire Department on the delivery of their new E-ONE HR100 Single Axle Truck Company!

This impressive apparatus is a tremendous addition to the department and reflects the dedication, attention to detail, and forward-thinking vision of the truck committee throughout the specification process. Their efforts resulted in a highly capable, thoughtfully designed truck with an exceptional layout tailored to the needs of Manchester firefighters.

Built on E-ONE’s proven single-axle aerial platform, the HR100 provides the reach and versatility of a 100-foot aerial while maintaining outstanding maneuverability, reduced overall weight, and a compact footprint. With an outrigger spread of just 11 feet, this truck is well-equipped to operate effectively in a wide variety of response environments.

We extend our sincere congratulations to the entire Manchester Fire Department and thank everyone involved in bringing this project to completion. Greenwood Emergency Vehicles is proud to have been part of this journey, and we look forward to seeing this outstanding truck serve and protect the residents and visitors of Manchester for many years to come.
