Explore York Invites Community Partners to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary
Vendor Opportunities Available for October 2 Cultural Festival
YORK, PA — Explore York invites local businesses, organizations, and community partners to participate in a Cultural Fair on Friday, October 2, from 4–6:30 p.m. along N. Pershing Avenue near the York County History Center. The event is part of York County’s rescheduled America 250 celebration, continuing the festivities originally planned for July 4, 2026.
The free, family-friendly Cultural Fair will celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and stories that help shape York County today. Attendees can enjoy cultural activities, hands-on experiences, interactive demonstrations, and opportunities to connect with local businesses, organizations, and community partners.
Vendor participation is free, with space limited to the first 30 businesses and organizations that register. The event offers an opportunity to showcase your organization, engage with the community and be part of a historic celebration.
“Even as we move into the fall, the spirit of America’s 250th anniversary continues to give us reasons to come together and celebrate what makes our community unique,” said Laura Wagner, President of Explore York. “The Cultural Fair is a great opportunity to experience the traditions, talents, and stories that are part of York County today—and to celebrate them together.”
EVENT SCHEDULE
• 2:30–3:30 p.m. — Vendor Set-up
• 4 p.m. — Cultural Fair Begins
• 4:30 p.m. — Bell Dedication, “The Energy of York County” by Chelsea Foster
• 6:30 p.m. — Vendor Tear-down
Businesses and organizations interested in participating must RSVP by September 18, 2026, at 5 p.m. Space is limited and expected to fill quickly.

Prep Work Begins on Route 24 Pavement Repair Project in Springettsbury and East Manchester Townships, York County

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that next week prep work will start on an approximately 1.4-mile concrete pavement repair and resurfacing project on Route 24 (Mount Zion Road and Sherman Street Ext.) between Eastern Boulevard and 800 feet north of Pleasant Valley Road along with the on and off ramps at the Route 30 interchange in Springettsbury and East Manchester townships, York County.

Weather permitting, work will begin Thursday, September 10. There will be nighttime single-lane restrictions under flagging this month Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM for pavement patching, brush clearing, and shoulder rock work.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA, is the contractor for this $6,817,117 project. This project consists of drainage work, base replacement, shoulder work, accelerated concrete pavement patching, bridge deck scarification, repairs, and overlay, milling, paving, guiderail installation, and other miscellaneous construction. All work is expected to be completed by December 24, 2027.

NB Interstate 83 Bridge Deck Patching Over Rt 462 in Springettsbury Twp York Co
Reminder: Deck Patching Tomorrow on NB I-83 Bridge Over Route 462 (Market Street) in Springettsbury Township, York County
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminded travelers today that a PennDOT highway maintenance crew in York County will perform bridge deck patching tomorrow on the northbound Interstate 83 bridge spanning Route 462 (Market Street) at Exit 19 in Springettsbury Township.
Weather permitting, this work will be performed on Saturday, August 29, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A right lane closure will be in place during work hours.
Since the work will be near the ramp from Market Street to northbound I-83, the ramp will be closed. A detour will be in place using the ramp from North Hills Road to northbound I-83.
Travelers should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
