Happy 157th birthday to the Borough, York County! 🎂

The land that is now Manchester was originally purchased by an heir of William Penn in 1740. The town grew throughout the next century as a stop on the road between Harrisburg and York. In 1863, the town was even temporarily invaded by the Confederate Army to burn bridges.

On August 27, 1869, Manchester was given its name and incorporated into a borough - its legal birthday! 157 years later, Manchester stands as a close-knit, wonderful town for its residents, a place I am honored to represent in Congress. 🇺🇸

PennDOT Plans Deck Patching on SB I-83 Bridge over Route 462 (Market Street) at Exit 19A in Springettsbury Township, York County

A left lane restriction will be in place on Oct. 24 from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a PennDOT highway maintenance crew in York County is scheduled to perform deck patching on Saturday, October 24, on the southbound Interstate 83 bridge spanning Route 462 (Market Street) near mile marker 18.7 and Exit 19A in Springettsbury Township.

Weather permitting, this work will be performed on Saturday, October 24, from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Expect a southbound left lane restriction and delays during work hours.

Travelers should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

🚧 ROAD WORK NOTICE – FARM LANE & EDGEBORO DR. 🚧

Manchester Borough would like to advise residents and motorists that the Farm Lane Sanitary and Storm Sewer Replacements and Road Reconstruction Projects are scheduled to begin Monday, November 2, 2026.

Construction will initially focus on the intersection of Farm Lane and Edgeboro Dr. The project completion date is currently TBD.

Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays, use caution, and plan accordingly. Please slow down and remain alert around workers and equipment.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as these important improvements are completed.

Concrete Patching to Close Hallam Ramp to EB Route 30, Night Shift Paving Continues in Hellam Township, York County

Kreutz Creek Road ramp at Hallam to eastbound Route 30 will close Oct. 20-23.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a concrete patching operation starting Tuesday night will close the Kreutz Creek Road (Route 1014) ramp at Hallam to eastbound Route 30 in Hellam Township, York County. The ramp will close for three days from 6:00 PM Tuesday, October 20, until 6:00 PM Friday, October 23, until repairs are complete.

This work is associated with a resurfacing project on Route 30 (Arsenal Road) from just west of the Route 462 Exit for Hallam to the Wrights Ferry Bridge.

Night shift paving continues Monday through Friday from 6:00 PM until 6:00 AM on eastbound Route 30 between the Accomac Road bridge and the Wrights Ferry Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River.

Travelers should expect eastbound lane restrictions and travel delays during overnight work hours. Weather permitting, paving should be completed by the end of October.

This resurfacing project consists of milling, asphalt resurfacing, base repair, concrete paving, concrete patching, drainage improvements, guiderail updates, line painting, sign updates, structure repairs and other miscellaneous construction on Route 30 from just west of the Route 462 Exit for Hallam to the Wrights Ferry Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $15,475,000 project. All work on this contract is expected to be completed by December 21, 2027.
