Another St. Louis Scottish Games in the Books- and this one with traditional Scottish Weather!!!
We are thrilled to say we had a record number of dancers since the Games re-commenced. AND a heartwarming number of beginners and novices. The sport of Highland Dance is still growing.
The level of dancing we saw was outstanding!
We have got to throw out a few thanks-
To all of the dancers- your work and love of the dance is obvious. THANK YOU for blessing our stage with such outstanding dancing! Every dancer placed!!!!!
To the parents, guardians, partners, kids, all all of those who support the dancers- you are a gift not only to your dancers, but you are the backbones of the studios, shows and competitions.
To the whole games board- but especially Matt and Rebecca for putting out the games day fires. I owe you Scotch. And maybe some French fries.
To our volunteers- from registration to marshaling to scrutineering (Dance Math Pirates), to my henchwomen. To the muscle that sets up the tarps and holds the tarp wall up to keep the floor dry-
To our bagpiper, David McNally, keeping the rhythm solid and the tunes going
And to our adjudicator, Cindy Kopenski, BLESS YOU for your insight, your flexibility, your priceless feedback, and your grace in not only judging and running with the workshop-
But for rolling with the punches. Thank you to everyone who was able to turn on a dime when monsoon season hit and all heckins was breaking loose.
Everyone was there to lend a hand, help secure tents, and make sure things ran smoothly-ish.
This is proof that it is the people that keeps the dancing alive, the zip-ties just keep the tarps together.
