We are still celebrating scholarships and the incredible amount the Maquoketa Valley Class of 2026 received. Thanks to continued generosity, Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars (MVDFS) was able to award 216 scholarships totaling $131,075 to 39 graduating seniors this year. That is the power of a community that believes in its youth.

But did you know you can help ensure this life-changing support continues for generations to come?

When you give to Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars—whether through an annual gift, a memorial, or by establishing a permanent endowment fund—you are doing more than writing a check. You are planting a seed for the future. You are telling a young person, "We believe in you, and we are investing in your dreams."

From summer reading programs to vital community hubs, our local libraries are the heart of our towns. We are incredibly fortunate to have such wonderful spaces that bring people together.

📚🚶‍♀️ Take a walk and enjoy a story! We’re proud to have supported the new Story Walk project created by the Edgewood Colesburg CSD along the Viking Loop Trail. Even better? We helped fund the trail, too! It’s great to see community projects connecting learning, outdoor fun, and healthy living.

The Story Walk along the Viking Loop Trail officially has a story for you to read! I decided to spotlight our very own Edgewood author Pam Ostwinkle as the first book, so everyone please enjoy “The Little Teardrop” by Pam Ostwinkle along the Viking Loop Trail! Happy Reading!!!!! 😊

With graduation season here, we are focusing the next few weeks on how you can make a permanent impact on local students through a scholarship endowment—a great way to ensure your gift supports students forever.

🌟 Spotlight: The Mountain Climber Award
We are proud to highlight this unique fund, designed to recognize high school students who have overcome great academic or personal obstacles to succeed. This scholarship, started by the West Delaware Class of 1970, intentionally lifts up West Delaware students who put in the hard work to climb their own mountains but aren't typically recognized or rewarded.

We hope this endowment inspires other alumni classes to come together, establish their own worthwhile causes, and encourage the next generation.
