Today, we are incredibly proud to announce the FIRST recipients of funding through Delaware County Pay It Forward’s new Hope for Heroes initiative. ❤️

Through this first round of awards, more than $3,200 is being invested back into Delaware County to support organizations making a real difference in the lives of our residents.

Congratulations to our 2026 recipients:

🚨 Delaware County Emergency Management Awarded $1,000 toward emergency response and public safety mapping equipment.

💚 West Delaware Community School District – Together We Are Initiative Awarded $1,500 to support youth mental health awareness, emotional wellness, and su***de prevention efforts.

👶 Regional Medical Center Parents as Teachers Awarded $300 to support professional development benefiting young children and families throughout Delaware County.

🧼 Manchester Methodist Clothing Closet Hygiene Bank Awarded $400.30 to provide hygiene essentials for local families in need.

These awards represent exactly why Hope for Heroes was created — to support the people and organizations working every day to protect, educate, care for, and strengthen our community.

This is just the beginning.

Hope for Heroes is intended to become an annual initiative, with the next application cycle expected to open in January 2027.

Thank you to our donors, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who make programs like this possible. Your generosity is helping neighbors right here in Delaware County through Hope for Heroes, Hope Gap, Christmas Hope, and many other community initiatives.

West Bend Insurance Company Awards Dolan Insurance a Spirit of the Silver Lining® Grant ~ In their honor, West Bend presented $10,000 to Delaware County Pay if Forward

Manchester, IA – West Bend Insurance Company recently presented their Spirit of the Silver Lining Award to Dolan Insurance Agency in Manchester, IA, included was a grant to the Delaware County Pay if Forward, the agency’s beneficiary for being a philanthropic advocate.

The Spirit of the Silver Lining Award honors West Bend agents and the nonprofit organizations they support, for their dedication to delivering a silver lining to those in need.

John Dolan & Missy Heims McIntyre were presented with the Spirit of the Silver Lining Award. Delaware County Pay it Forward’s mission is to model humility, unity, and compassion to the members of Delaware County by sharing HOPE and inspiring kindness.

"West Bend, has a proud tradition of giving back to the communities we serve," said Rob Jacques, president and CEO of West Bend Insurance Company. "This award is a unique program that allows us to express our gratitude to our agent partners on whom we rely on to identify the causes that matter most in our communities."

Since 2006, West Bend Insurance Company has awarded more than $2 million in grants for sustaining support, special projects, or capital projects to nonprofit organizations representing a broad field of interests, including, but not limited to, arts and culture; education; the environment; family, youth, and elderly; health and human services; medical research; and community development. Grants are made to organizations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota.

This morning, Delaware County Pay It Forward had the honor of proudly serving fresh rolls to our local veterans. 🇺🇸

It’s a small gesture compared to the sacrifices they’ve made, but we’re grateful for every opportunity to give back and show our appreciation. Seeing smiles and connecting with those who have served reminds us why community matters so much.

Thank you to our veterans for your service, strength, and dedication. And thank you to everyone who helps make moments like this possible. 🇺🇸

Delaware County Pay It Forward is proud to launch Hope for Heroes — a new initiative supporting the individuals and organizations who serve and protect our community.

We are now accepting applications from:

✔ Law enforcement

✔ Fire & EMS

✔ Educators

✔ Healthcare providers

✔ Veterans organizations

✔ And other service groups supporting Delaware County residents

Funding may be used for equipment, training, safety needs, wellness initiatives, and more.
