Pawsitive Change for Kitsap Cats

Pawsitive Change for Kitsap Cats We provide education about the homeless cat population and resources for cat caretakers.

We work to reduce the population of unowned cats, get adoptable cats into homes, and improve the health / well-being of feral or community cats in our neighborhoods.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at Olalla Farm Feline Spay & Neuter Project!

Those of you who know me have heard me discuss ad nauseam how badly this county needs more low cost Veterinary care for cats and LOW COST SPAY AND NEUTER to help control the overwhelming population growth of unowned cats in our area. PAWS of Bremerton is a trustworthy, dedicated local organization run by some wonderful people who are passionate about helping those who most need it. PLEASE SHARE this fundraiser, and please give if you have the ability! This is something that could make a clear difference right here in our backyard for our own communities and the animals we see suffering every day.

Honestly?

Nobody doing TNR has extra time laying around.

๐Ÿ˜ชThe people trapping after work?
Tired.

๐Ÿ˜ชThe people setting alarms every 45 minutes to check traps?
Tired.

๐Ÿ˜ชThe people driving before sunrise to clinics?
Tired.

๐Ÿ˜ชThe people answering messages while cooking dinner, raising kids, working jobs, and barely holding their own life together?
Tired.

People just decide something matters enough to make room for it anyway.

Thatโ€™s the part we wish more people understood.

Somebody rearranged their schedule.
Lost sleep.
Spent money.
Sweated their ass off in the heat.
Learned how to trap.
Drove across counties.
Was frustrated.
Overwhelmed.
Burnt out.

Because once you truly SEE the problem, it becomes really hard to ignore it.

This work is not built on people with unlimited time, money, or energy.

Itโ€™s built on ordinary people deciding:
โ€œSomeone needs to do somethingโ€ฆ so I guess itโ€™s gonna be me.โ€

And honestly?
That mindset is the only reason any of this works at all.

The people making a difference in this community are not super human.

Theyโ€™re exhausted, ordinary people who decided these โ€œunownedโ€ cats still mattered anyway.

Quick PSA for my plant lovers who also have cats. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿฑ

Some of the most popular houseplants out there (pothos, English ivy, sago palm, lilies, daffodils, etc.) are seriously toxic to cats. And unlike dogs or horses, cats have zero evolutionary instinct to avoid them.

I've put together everything you need to know on my blog. Don't skip this one. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Many thanks to Dayna for sending in this pic of Charlie sniffing his totally non-toxic, homegrown catnip. What a lucky boy!

What happened in Jasper, Georgia, over one weekend in April is the kind of large-scale, community-powered TNR effort that makes you stop and think about what's really possible when the right organizations work collaboratively:

When Fix Georgia Pets and Be Paws We Care brought together seven rescue organizations, four veterinary teams, and volunteers from across the Southeast for a four-day TNR blitz in Pickens County, Georgia, the results spoke for themselves: 172 surgeries, 23 pregnant cats, and countless futures changed...
