Women, Land, & Legacy - Delaware & Dubuque County Chapter Providing local educational events to women in agriculture and women in local communities

Women, Land, & Legacy (WLL) is a bottom-up, locally led USDA education and outreach program. WLL empowers women landowners and farmers to be agents of positive change in their communities through active participation, educational sessions, and networking opportunities. WLL provides participants opportunities to inform agencies what their needs are and bridges partnerships between government, non

-profit organizations, faith based, and community groups. Partners provide local, relevant information, speakers, and resources to local women so they can make the best farming and conservation decisions for their land.

Over 100 people gathered at the Peosta Community Centre to learn how to answer one big question: What’s next for the farm?

Daryl Parker with Sustainable Iowa Land Trust - SILT kicked off the evening by sharing ways farmers can protect their land from development and explaining the options SILT offers to help keep farmland in farming.

Dinner was served by Dinger's D'Lite's Food Truck, and the brisket tacos were a crowd favorite among several delicious options!

Steve Bohr with Farm Financial Strategies, Inc. had the entire room captivated with his presentation, “The Perfect Storm Brewing in Farm Transition.” His stories and insights clearly struck a chord.

By the end of the night, there was quite the line of people waiting to visit with Steve. True to form, he stayed until he had the chance to hear everyone’s story.

We're grateful to our WLL planning committee who coordinated the evening and made a second session possible after the overwhelming response to the first session a month ago.
