This was taken in 2012 at the 1st Fl Regt Conf i think about these Young Adults now every day one on the Left has already served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps the Little Girl she is 12 in this Picture and is almost 20 now and a Cpl in the United States Marine Corps. Proud of each one of them.

It is with Great sorrow that I have to say this will be my last Post. Desoto YMs has been deactivated and no longer will be having Drill. There is a lot of reasons behind this decision a few are our UC had to step down because of some Issues we are know longer getting the Kids to join. It has been my pleasure to work with all the Young Marines for the last eleven years some of them adults now and served in the Military some serving in the Military as I post this. There are other Units in the surrounding towns and schools that has units if you would like to join one. From the Desoto Unit Staff we would like to Thank you to all Young Marine Staff in the Regt and Div for all and any help you have gave but most importantly we would like to Thank the Young Marines Mother and Fathers and there Familys for all the support they gave us and still are we could not have did it with out you. My tour of Duty has ended Thank You all for the Great Memories.

Young Marines I don't like to tell any Young Man or Woman to pick up there phone but if you have not talk to your Dad yet today PLEASE pick it up call or text him a Happy Fathers Day. There are too many of us that cant do that any more and would Love to. I did go spend some time with my Dad today but it was at the Cemetery. While I was there I was thinking how much more time if I would have made the time I could have spent with him. We all have time if we make it make it to spend time with your Parents because some day you will wish you did. Mr Gregory Desoto YMs.

Well I did not make it to SgtMaj Witham Grad I told her how sorry I was. I remember Wed before the Friday I was suppose to leave for FL my Son brought the Computor to Hospital to cancel my Flight Hotel and Car I told him not to cancel it because I still had a couple of days before I was to leave maybe I would get lucky and get out of the Hospital the next day Thursday and still be able to go on Friday. The Dr in a very Polite way said you will not get out of here before the weekend and even if you did you can not fly yet. Got out on Saturday afternoon. By the way NO Cig for 13 weeks now.

I change our Picture to a Young Marine that has been with us for 10 years. She will be Grad from High School this Month and will be retireing from the Young Marines I will be there for her Grad. I think this Young Lady taught me as much if not more that I taught her. She was always a pain in my butt teaseing me some how but it was always in fun I am was a smoker and will be a addict to Ci******es the rest of my life she was always on me about smoking the last few years. I told our Young Marines years back that 90percent of what you want are need to do is in your Brain and can do it if you want to. I thought I am not showing or leading by example its been 6 weeks today and I have not smoke. I told the SgtMaj after about two weeks because I knew she would care and have faith in me I ask her not to say anything to anyone most people don't care are they make stupid statements when are you starting back hopely never but like I said I take one day at a time and that seems to be working. Volunteer Family,

It is with great sadness that we need to inform you that R. Lee Ermey passed away this morning. We have reposted the announcement from his personal page to our Young Marines social media. Some of you may see postings or comments that question his passing, but I can assure you this has indeed happened. SgtMaj Overstreet was informed by family earlier today.

Please pass to your Young Marines and others as you see fit. The media is already covering his passing in some detail. Gy Ermey was a true friend of the Young Marines and supported us in every way possible. We will be seeking your inputs soon as we work on a proper memorial for "the Gunny" and his service to our country, our veterans, and the Young Marines program.
