Today, President Andrew Mills and Quartermaster Jack Mills went to the Dumfries Cemetery to place flags on the graves of Patriots buried there. While examining the graves, numerous were in need of repair and cleaning. President Mills would like to call upon all Chapters in the Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution to make it a goal to clean and repair Patriot graves wherever possible by Memorial Day 2027 as a means of showing Community Engagement and continued Patriotism throughout the Commonwealth.

The Colonel William Grayson Chapter, SAR awarded a number of people with various forms of recognition today. Compatriots Michael Wilson and Buddy Wagner received the Colonel Grayson lapel pin, Compatriot Bill Groth received a Certificate of Appreciation for his role in the Color Guard, Compatriot Chip Hayes received a Forgotten Patriot certificate, and the Chapter's Eagle Scout T. Albert Cline was awarded his recognition as the Chapter's Eagle Scout contest winner.

It is a GREAT day to be a Son of the American Revolution and member of the Colonel William Grayson Chapter, SAR as we installed seven new members into the Chapter: (L to R) Bennett Hart, Ralph Bruner, Bob Coggan, Henry Mottesheard, Don Davis, Brandon Randall, and William Sterling. In addition, three of our new Inductees received their first medals in the SAR for their service in the military: Bob Coggan for his War Service, Ralph Bruner and Bennett Hart for their Military Service. At today's meeting of the Colonel William Grayson Chapter, SAR Compatriot Richard Rankin of the George Washington Chapter, Virginia SAR discussed the Liability Insurance Policy Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution has as part of his role as Risk Manager. President Mills would award Compatriot Rankin with a Colonel William Grayson lapel pin as thanks for his efforts in keeping everyone safe at the numerous events held throughout the Commonwealth.

Last few weeks were busy ones for the Colonel William Grayson Chapter, SAR as members were out in force supporting numerous events. President Andrew Mills and Quartermaster Jack Mills supporting the Celebration of Freedom choral concert with a flag presentation. The next day, both President Mills and Historian Charles Mills took part in the Revolution War Weekend at Mount Vernon, where Presideny Mills as gave a presentation on George Washington and Slavery. In addition, Compatriots John Callaway, Ross Schwalm, and Richard Potter have been presenting awards to our JROTC program winners throughout the region. It is a GREAT time to be a Son of the American Revolution as we get ready for the summer!

Yesterday, the Colonel William Grayson Chapter, SAR honored it's namesake, Colonel William Grayson and his brother, Reverend Spence Grayson with a Commemoration at their grave site. In attendance were National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution President General Micahel Elston and Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution President Darrin Schmidt. The Chapter was joined by Troop 501 from Scouting Ameri a, members of the DAR, CAR, and representing from the Military Orders of World Wars.
