🔥 Remember When Kids Used to Play Outside Until Dark? 🔥

Climbing trees.
Exploring the woods.
Building fires.
Learning real skills.

A lot of kids today are missing that.

That’s exactly what we’re bringing back with Troop 1182 in Manassas.

We’re a combined Scouts BSA troop for boys AND girls ages 11–17, and our Scouts spend their time outside learning leadership, adventure, and real-world skills.

Here are just a few things we’re doing this year:

🥾 Hiking Prince William Forest Park
🏕️ Spring service campout
🌊 Camping at Assateague Island
🎒 Backpacking in Shenandoah National Park
🚤 Water sports weekend at Lake Anna
⛺ Summer Camp at Camp Raven K**b

Scouts learn:

🔥 Fire building
🧭 Navigation
🏕️ Outdoor survival
🤝 Leadership and teamwork
🩹 First aid and emergency skills

…all while making great friends and unforgettable memories.

Families from public school, private school, and homeschool backgrounds are all welcome.

The last few months have been busy teaming up with many! We teamed up with Troop 1182 of Manassas to learn and improve our field sports skills. We teamed up with some local Webelos to enjoy a round of disc golf and meet some new friends. We combined with Troop 1182-Girls for some pumpkin carving and to participate in the annual Scouting For Food event. And finally we teamed up with our chartered organization, the Park West Lions Club to help host "Shop With A Cop" that offered a chance for numerous children to team up with members of law enforcement from all around the area to help give back to the local community. We look forward to next year!

Summer means vacation season but that doesn't mean we can't socialize with smaller numbers. And dessert cooking challenges are always fun! This specific challenge was for allergen friendly -- no nuts and gluten free! Follow us for more cooking tips!

Summer Camp 2021 at Camp Rodney (North East, MD) was enjoyed by a group of 1182-Boys and 1182-Girls. Merit badges, boating, rock climbing with headlamps, a few naps, Swim & Water Rescue training, Paddle Craft Safety, plenty of wildlife sightings, and a campfire closing! Thanks for your support!

We also were able to enjoy meeting Troop 1998, dodging some rain and hosting an "indoor camp fire" event with them!

Improving weather and public health just means more camping! We got out to Camp Snyder this past weekend to shake off the dust and enjoy the great weather! Summer camp coming in just over a month!

Pictures of our spur-of-the-moment dessert creation, a big millipede enjoying campsite #8 with us, and caught the Scoutmaster "glamping" by "testing the cot he bought someone else" (Sure, sure!)

Although Troop 1182 doesn't plan to attend an NCAC camp this year, we will continue to monitor our camp selection and communicate with all who are still hoping for a camp experience this year. Thank you & stay safe!
