Common Ground Grief Center

Common Ground Grief Center Common Ground is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing on-going peer support groups for children and teens grieving the death of a parent or sibling.

Following the death of a loved one often leaves families feeling overwhelmed with not only their grief, but the day to day activities in their lives. Often, it is difficult for the surviving parent to help their children deal with death, leaving the child to face their loss and pain alone. We provide support groups for children ages 6-18, grouped according to age, and also groups for the surviving

parent/primary caregiver. Through the use of art, play, music, sand play, and talking, we give children the opportunity to share their grief stories and assist them in coping with their grief.

Today was a very special day for us. We had our launch party with to preview the song, “Sinking” that our kids and teens created over the past 5 weeks. The kids showed immense vulnerability in their lyrics about what it’s like to be a bereaved kid. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and thank all the families and friends for attending the premier today. This song will be sung by the kids on June 11th at our fundraiser . Don’t forget to purchase your tickets to this wonderful event which helps support so many bereaved kids in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

WOW! We are so incredibly grateful to Rena Fruchter and the Voices of Change program for making this dream come true for these kiddos. We are at recording an amazing song they wrote about grief. It’s a “goosebump” experience here at the recording studio! To hear them sing this song live, come attend our Clambake on June 11th where they will introduce this song to all. Also, if any of our many followers has a connection to any of the major news stations, please DM. We want to submit this story and the song to as many of the major news stations we can. The story is beautiful, the lyrics powerful for anyone who’s experienced grief, and the musical composition is incredible! We’re so grateful, proud and in awe!!
