Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation

Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation Shinning the Light on Esophageal Cancer. We are a Non Profit 501 C 3 organization Mr. With Mr. Frazzitta, ECEF has established a website, www.fightec.org.

The Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation (ECEF) was established in 2003 to educate the public and medical community about the dangers of esophageal cancer and to assist newly diagnosed patients with their journey through treatment. Founded by Bart Frazzitta, an EC survivor whose own experience and work as a patient-to-patient volunteer with newly diagnosed esophageal cancer patients at Memorial

Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, made him realize how little information there was on this subject. ECEF has rapidly moved forward with a far-reaching vision, to address the lack of awareness and education surrounding Esophageal Cancer. Frazzitta co-authored a book, 100 Questions & Answers about Esophageal Cancer and produced an educational CD-Rom for patients along with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. ECEF has 3 Missions:

1) To educate the public and medical community about esophageal cancer.

2) To walk the journey with patients who have this disease.

3) To support research projects that focus on an early warning test for this disease.

"Take a problem and focus on this for your lifetime to make a difference."

Behind ECEF is a journey dedicated to walking alongside patients, shedding light on the unknown, and bringing crucial cancer awareness to the public. From the brilliance of cancer immunology to the shared strength of survivors, we are here to support our community every step of the way. If you are experiencing persistent symptoms like chronic heartburn or difficulty swallowing, or if a loved one is, please know you do not have to navigate this alone. Visit fightec.org to find medical resources, patient support groups, and educational guidance for the journey ahead.

Meet Dr. Prasad S. Adusumilli, Deputy Chief of Thoracic Surgery at MSK Cancer Center. Beyond treating patients, he leads a cutting-edge research lab of over 20 scientists. Supported by ECEF, his team is pioneering revolutionary treatments in cancer immunology and immunotherapy to teach the body’s own immune system to fight back against esophageal cancer.

ECEF founder Bart Frazzitta’s 26-year survival story shows new patients that they can face this cancer journey with ultimate strength and hope. Remember, persistent heartburn isn't normal. Learn more on our website-link in bio.

Tomorrow marks 26 years since Bart’s esophagectomy. When he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, he had a 5-10% survival rate and just wanted to see his grandkids finish elementary school.

26 years later, he’s seen them graduate college, get married, and welcome 5 great-grandkids. Bart’s symptoms started with persistent heartburn. Reminder that it isn't normal. Listen to your body and get checked.

Most people wait for a “serious” symptom. But with esophageal cancer… that’s often too late. It can start with something small like ongoing acid reflux and quietly progress without obvious warning signs.

That’s why awareness matters before it feels urgent. When your body repeats something, it’s trying to tell you something.
Are you listening?
