New Jersey Organizing Project

New Jersey Organizing Project A grassroots organization of everyday people who stand up, speak out, and build community power.

We’re a non-profit, grassroots organization made up of people standing up for New Jersey and the Shore that believe in putting people before politics as usual. We work together to pass policies that help our region, change institutions, hold corporations accountable and ensure elected officials stand with us. We engage in community-powered solutions for a full and fair Sandy recovery, economic sec

urity and dignity for all of us, and fighting so our communities can prepare for sea level rise, extreme weather and future storms.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Ida 5th anniversary event! We appreciate all the amazing food you brought. All our speakers and elected officials who attended.

We gathered to mark the work we have done to make it to five years. And also to say we need Governor Mikie Sherrill to act for storm impacted communities. We signed letters saying we look forward to meeting with her to:

Reverse the decision preventing Manville from rebuilding.

Stand with storms survivors against the banks preying on us and extend the Ida mortgage forbearance.

And last. We joined REBUILD.US and prayed with/for our fellow survivors for CDBG-DR funds and to fix our broken disaster recovery system.

Grateful to be part of remembering loved ones lost to overdose today. Big thanks to the Andy's Glow Foundation for hosting and the Not One More team for speaking and all their hard work. The stories of parents who lost their children, and loved ones sho lost family members and continue to work so hard to support other families and prevent overdoses were incredibly powerful.

Stayed tuned for information on an event 9.19. We can join with these parents, and all in our community who have been impacted by the overdose crisis to demand opioid settlement funding be spent in ways that support people with substance use disorder and their families, reduce preventable overdose deaths.

NEW LOCATION!!! Hey everyone, our Ida 5th anniversary event has moved to the firehouse - see the updated flyer with the new address. It’s so important that we stand with Ida survivors on their anniversary, especially in Manville, where people don’t have access to all the same programs that other survivors do. Please RSVP at njorganizing.us/Ida5 and join us this Sunday in Manville.

Another great day of canvassing (and a beautiful sunset) - Stay tuned for updates about our Ida 5 Event👀

Proud to be a part of this! We announced it on our monthly storm meeting in June, but just a reminder. You can register and learn more by joining the call.

We're proud to introduce Rebuild: The National Disaster Survivors Association!

Rebuild is a community BY and FOR disaster survivors coming together to share wisdom, advocate for our interests, and build a national network to win a full and fair recovery for all.

Survivors know that the storm, fire, or flood is just the beginning.

There's the "storm after the storm" – denied insurance claims, massive debt, endless delays, mountains of paperwork, and fraudsters taking advantage of people at their most vulnerable.

Rebuild exists so no survivor has to go through this alone.

If you're a disaster survivor, please sign up to join our introductory July 15 launch call, where you'll hear from organizers, experts, and fellow survivors.

RSVP here: https://organizing-resilience.solidarity.tech/rebuild-assoc-launch?utm_source=shortlink

And if you're a friend, family member, or ally, please help us spread the word!

Family. Yikes. These photos are from members and staff. Yesterday folks lost cars, basements and homes were flooded. We’re going to share some tip sheets today and for the next week or so. If enough folks want to talk, we will pull together a zoom meeting to support each other and share advice.

Can you invite any friends you know who might be impacted to like our page so they can get looped in.

(Photos from Alex and Shiloh. Everyone is okay.)
