A memorial service for long-time RTO star George R. Seaberry III will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Salem First Assembly of God, 118 Pinto Pl., Salem, Ark., where George had been a member.
George died Monday, Oct. 3, at the age of 68. He had been receiving medical treatment for several conditions in Chicago, with his sister Cynthia overseeing. He had left Chicago over a decade ago to care for his mother, Orine, who also attended Salem First Assembly of God and died in November, 2012. He was living in her house in the Fryatt, Ark, area.
Funeral for George was held Saturday, Oct. 8, at Leak and Sons Funeral Chapel in Chicago with Apostle Sandra Thomas officiating. An Army veteran of the Vietnam war, during which he served as a combat medic, he had a full military burial.
While living in Chicago, George was, among other things, a civil engineer overseeing highway construction.
As a member of Repertory Theater of the Ozarks (RTO) for several years, George was a featured singer in several performances and had songs featured in two RTO CDs. He was always comfortable and confident on stage.
Pastor Philip Combs will officiate at the memorial. Members of George’s family will participate and show photos and videos of George. RTO will provide special music, show photos of George performing and have CD’s featuring George available.
A dinner in the church’s Fellowship Hall will follow the memorial.
First Assembly of God is located on Pinto Place, with the turn off Hwy. 62/412 in Salem (with the turnoff between First Baptist Church and Hill’s Auto Sales).
A link to the obituary is included in the Hill ’n Holler Review story on the memorial.
